Job Description

The Opportunity

We are looking for an IT Support Engineer – Remote Operations & Connectivity to join the team who is responsible for the design as utilised in the marine environment of Fugro and operate as a subject matter expert with a strong knowledge of and connection to (SD) WAN and LAN management. Your duties include but not limited to the below:

  • Assess and analyse the reliability and performance of WAN and LANs at remote services to support the deployment team with implementing new designs for marine systems, remote operating centers, and offices;
  • Analyse and improve current infrastructure and/or provide a roadmap while liaising with various stakeholders;
  • Covert high level designs into practical solutions and provide guidance and advice on (SD) WAN and LAN, with a focus on remotely supplied services;
  • Work closely with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that Fugro can respond to developments and are aware of potential issues that may arise.

The Operational Technology (OT) Services team is part of Fugro’s global IT Infrastructure and Security team. At OT Services we provide IT support to facilitate Fugro’s vessels and field operations, remote operations and processing of Geo-data collected during those operations. Within OT Services, the Deployment team coordinates and executes full scale deployment of IT infrastructure onboard Fugro's marine vessels operating globally.

About You

Your success in securing this role will require:

  • Tertiary degree in Information Technology, Engineering or a similar field with relevant Cisco and Juniper network certifications;
  • Proven experience in IT Network Design, Operations and Support with knowledge of complex network topologies and protocols across various standards such as Architectural processes and tools (TOGAF, ArchiMate);
  • Solid understanding of satellite communications systems (VSAT, Starlink) is highly desirable;
  • Pro-active and dynamic approach to work with a strong sense of responsibility and ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong communications skills to interact effectively at all organizational levels, identify customer service issues, meet customers’ expectations while actively seek suggestions for further improvement.
