About the Role
As the DevOps Engineering Team Lead, you’ll provide technical leadership to a high-performing engineering team responsible for delivering secure, reliable and scalable DevOps capabilities across complex Defence programs.
You’ll lead the delivery of software development environments, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, cyber security services and release management activities, ensuring engineering outcomes are delivered on time, within budget and in line with contractual, security and quality requirements.
You’ll drive the organisation’s DevOps strategy by embedding automation, security and continuous improvement throughout the software development lifecycle.
From managing cloud platforms, Kubernetes environments and Infrastructure as Code to overseeing the Software Integration Laboratory (SIL), vulnerability management and software releases, you’ll play a key role in delivering resilient engineering solutions while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams, customers and stakeholders across the business.
About You
You’re an experienced DevOps leader with a strong background in cloud infrastructure, CI/CD automation and secure software delivery within complex engineering environments.
Your expertise spans DevOps practices, container platforms, Infrastructure as Code, release management and modern security tooling, with a solid understanding of governance, risk and compliance frameworks.
You thrive in collaborative environments where you can influence technical direction, solve complex challenges and continuously improve engineering capability.
With excellent communication skills and a commitment to technical excellence, you’re passionate about building high-performing teams, driving innovation and delivering secure, reliable solutions that support critical Defence capability.
Experience working within highly regulated environments and producing technical documentation aligned with Defence standards, including ASDEFCON, will be highly regarded.
To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Previous experience leading Software teams.
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer, preferably within a software development team.
- Experience tutoring, mentoring and developing Software Developers to high standards.
- Experience implementing DevOps security controls and automation.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift or Rancher.
- Excellent problem solving, planning, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
