At Regions, the Business Systems Analyst conducts business process analysis, needs assessments, and preliminary cost/benefits analysis in an effort to align information technology solutions with business initiatives. This position may function as liaison between the line of business and the Information Technology (IT) department.
Primary Responsibilities
- Formulates/defines specifications for operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from programs
- Analyzes and evaluates existing or proposed systems and devises computer programs, systems, and related procedures to process data
- Prepares charts and diagrams to assist in problem analysis and submits recommendations for solution
- Prepares program specifications and diagrams and develops coding logic flowcharts
- Encodes, tests, debugs, and installs the operating programs and procedures in coordination with computer operations and user departments
- Reviews progress and evaluates results
- Reports inconsistencies to the attention of management and suggest problem resolutions and business process improvements
- Certain business groups may require on call support rotation after hours and/or weekends
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and seven (7) years of related experience
- Or Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience
Preferences
- Banking or financial services industry experience
- Experience providing application support to include troubleshooting
- Experience with business intelligence tools
- Familiarity with agile and/or waterfall methodologies

Additional Job Description
- Works with change requestor(s) to understand and document business needs via a requirements/specification document for moderately complex operating software programming applications
- Analyzes and evaluates how proposed requirements impact existing systems, business processes or procedures, and end user experience
- Develop and Review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for system enhancement requests and evaluates results
- Actively participates in system release management activities, such as user acceptance testing, SME for reviewing procedures and training, pilot/production support.
- Subject matter expert for system capabilities and how they meet the business needs
- Participates in prioritizing system changes to support business group and enterprise strategic objectives
- Manage risk by ensuring business objectives, activities, system controls and functionality meets or exceeds Regions risk management expectations or protocols
- Facilitates communication with key stakeholders across business and technology
- Analyzes regulatory and industry trends to understand and influence business or system process enhancements
- May assists in vendor relationship management including responding and sending requests, managing risks, and ensuring compliance adherence
- Advanced concepts, practices, and procedures for analyzing business processes
- Critical thinking and strategic planning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability of leading and influencing cross functional teams
- Works with stakeholders to research and provide remediation strategies for system functionality or design flaws
- Provides support functions to maintain system functionality
- Working knowledge of Agile software development or other iterative development methodologies
Additional Preferences
- Experience managing vendor relationships and coordinating projects with third party vendors
- CRM system experience
- Experience with Atlassian planning and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
- SQL experience preferred but not required
- Familiarity with Sales and Service application

Compensation Details
Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.
The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.
