Full description

Peregrine Advisors is a firm founded on a simple conviction: the best solutions come from the people closest to the problem, given real ownership and the tools to deliver. We are a data and technology innovation hub and a Benefit Corporation working at the center of the federal government's mission to deliver for client stakeholders and the US public, looking for highly motivated contributors who thrive when trusted to own a hard problem and equipped to deliver the solution.

Your first assignmentYour first assignment will likely include driving definition and implementation of solutions for modern applications:

  • leading feature delivery on a cloud-native AWS stack, owning user stories from refinement through to production;
  • leading the development of event-driven, serverless application workflows using Lambda and Step Functions;
  • owning the integration of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products with broader, internally developed system frameworks;
  • designing and delivering the API interconnections that modern system architectures depend on; or

Adaptability and a demonstrated capacity to learn new concepts, systems, and tools is what keeps you ahead of program needs as projects complete and priorities shift.

The work is real, hard, and it matters. It is also where you start, not the shape of your career here: we hire people, not seats, and we move our best to where the hardest problems are.

What you'll build• Modern, cloud-native systems that provide exceptional business value through streamlined, automated operation.

  • Working, tested code that you own through to production, and the code quality bar the team works to.
  • The automation that replaces manual process: the checks, the validations, and the workflows that used to be somebody's spreadsheet.
  • The delivery path itself: pipelines and automated tests you build and maintain, not just use.
  • AI-assisted development as standard practice: you set the pattern for tools like Amazon Q Developer.
  • Developers who get better because you are on the team.
  • In time, the firm itself: new capabilities, tools, and lines of business you help spin up.

Who you areYou take what you build personally, and you raise the standard of everything around you: the code, the tests, the people. You are trusted with the hard call and you make it without ceremony. When priorities shift, you keep the team steady and moving. You communicate clearly, adapt across roles and clients, and care about creating public value. You experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly. You would rather own an outcome than be handed a task.

What you bring• A strong command of modern cloud development, and the range to move between building something new and making something existing work better.

  • The delivery habits that go with it, and the standing to set them for a team: version control, automated testing, code review, secure coding, and accessibility.
  • The judgment to weigh competing solution paths and choose the one that is best for the business, with the depth to evaluate each on its merits.
  • The communication to explain your work in plain language to the people who depend on it, and to hear what they need back.
  • The precision to work where accuracy and auditability are not optional.

What you'll needU.S. citizenship (this initial engagement may be staffed by U.S. citizens only) and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination. This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and it requires commuting into DC regularly. Everything else, the years, the certifications, the specific tools, we ask in the application and get into during the interview.

What we offerA high-performing team of developers, engineers, data scientists, architects, and strategists solving complex, real-world problems, with work that runs from strategy formulation to hands-on implementation. We develop people across roles and clients, with extensive onboarding and sponsored training and professional development. And Peregrine has been a Benefit Corporation from day one: public value is built into the work itself, not bolted on afterward. Work worth your best years.

What we commit toAs a Benefit Corporation, our commitment runs three ways: real, measurable value for our clients; government that works better for the public; and a team that makes everyone in it better.

We hire people who want to help build the firm, not just work at it. If that is you, apply.
