Overview
Our client is a financial institution providing the United States with a safe, flexible, and stable monetary system. They are seeking a Product Manager. In this role, you will you will lead the strategy, development, and delivery of a cloud-based research computing platform, partnering with researchers, engineering, security, data, and business stakeholders to drive product success from concept through launch.
This role is onsite in Washington, DC, and, per our client contract, candidates must be US Citizens.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end product strategy and roadmap for a cloud-based research computing platform supporting economic research.
- Collaborate closely with researchers across economic divisions to gather requirements and translate user needs into clear product specifications, priorities, and solutions.
- Develop a deep understanding of user needs, pain points, workflows, and use cases to drive product prioritization and solution development.
- Partner with architecture, cloud engineering, enterprise data platform, security, and platform delivery teams to design and develop a scalable platform that meets researcher needs while maintaining appropriate data governance and security.
- Lead product discovery activities, including user research, journey mapping, workflow analysis, and requirements gathering, to ensure solutions are intuitive and aligned with real-world processes.
- Demonstrate strong ownership and operate with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining cross-functional alignment and accountability for timely delivery of outcomes and deliverables.
- Balance near-term product delivery with long-term platform strategy to ensure scalable and sustainable solutions.
- Establish product success metrics and continuously evaluate, iterate, and improve the platform based on usage data, performance, and user feedback.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and establish clear, consistent processes for communicating relevant information, product updates, priorities, and project status.
- Clearly communicate product vision, roadmap, progress, priorities, risks, and tradeoffs to technical, non-technical, business, and executive stakeholders.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, security, data, researchers, and business stakeholders to drive successful product outcomes from conception through launch.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of technical product management experience, including at least 4 years working directly with cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, or GCP in a product or engineering capacity.
- Candidates whose experience is limited to project or program management without technical product management experience will not be considered.
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and services, including compute, storage, networking, security, containers, orchestration, and related cloud technologies.
- Hands-on experience with system design for cloud-based applications and platforms.
- Strong knowledge of platform engineering principles, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability, monitoring, and automated delivery practices.
- Strong understanding of modern AI-based development workflows and technologies.
- Demonstrated success delivering enterprise or research and development-focused products from initial concept through launch.
- Experience working closely with security and compliance teams and navigating data governance, access controls, risk reviews, and related security processes.
- Proven ability to collaborate across engineering, security, data, business, and end-user stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated experience developing product strategy, roadmaps, priorities, and long-term vision for enterprise platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage technical, business, and executive-level stakeholders.
- Experience supporting academic or research-based workflows is highly preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC; the on-site requirement is not flexible.
