WESTLAKE WARRIOR | Finacial Risk Analyst Intern

Job Summary:

The Financial Risk Analyst Intern will support the Risk Management team in evaluating and improving financial risk models and strategies. This internship provides hands-on experience in credit risk assessment, data analysis, and financial modeling within the auto finance industry.

Key Responsibilities:

• Data Integrity & Data Audits – Review datasets and reporting processes to identify missing, inconsistent, or inaccurate information. Perform data validation and reconciliation to help improve the reliability of data used for reporting and business decisions.

• Risk Analysis – Analyze loan and portfolio performance to identify trends and potential risk factors. Learn how different borrower, loan, and deal characteristics relate to delinquency, losses, and overall portfolio performance.

• Improved Marketing Messages – Review existing customer and/or dealer communications and use data to identify opportunities to improve messaging. Help develop clearer, more targeted messages and evaluate their effectiveness.

• Dashboard Enhancements, Cleanup & Automation – Improve existing dashboards and reports by simplifying layouts, validating metrics, removing unnecessary components, and automating repetitive processes. Focus on making reporting more accurate, efficient, and easy to understand.

Learn About the Originations Process – Gain hands-on exposure to the full loan origination lifecycle, including application submission, credit evaluation, underwriting, approval, funding, and boarding. Understand how different teams, systems, policies, and data points contribute to the decision-making process.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and/or Python is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret financial data and generate insights.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Mentorship Structure:

Primary Mentor and Backup Mentor

The mentors will provide guidance, facilitate learning, and ensure the intern gains valuable hands-on experience. They will hold regular check-ins to review progress, answer questions, and provide feedback.

This structured internship will offer a meaningful learning experience while contributing to critical business initiatives within the Risk department.

What’s our Pay rate?

  • $18.47 per hour
  • The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure when applicable.
