- Permanent full-time role – team is based at North Head WRRF but with flexibility to work from other Sydney Water locations and hybrid

Working with key internal stakeholders for our water and wastewater facilities, you will lead the effective interface between Operations, Project teams and contractors for Renewable Energy Projects, ensuring Sydney Water’s strategic objectives are met.
The Energy Team currently generates up to 20% of Sydney Water’s energy needs, and it is an exciting time of growth as we contribute to implementing Sydney Water’s Net Carbon Zero Plan by 2030.
The team is focussed on maximising generation of its existing fleet of renewable energy assets (12 cogeneration units at 9 water resource recovery facilities, 3 hydro units and range of solar infrastructure across facilities)
About the Role
This role will lead the coordination between various stakeholders during renewable energy projects, ensuring project objectives and operational requirements are met during all project phases (e.g. scoping, procurement, design, implementation, construction, commissioning and handover). This will include:
- Managing projects related to Renewable Energy Generation (REG) Assets (e.g. major services, renewals, new assets) to meet time/cost & quality requirements
- Working closely with Project Delivery Partners, Plant Operations team and Operation & Maintenance Contractors
- Leading the effective interface between the Plant Operations and Project Team through all project phases of the Project from Project Initiation through to Close Out and Handover in accordance with approved Sydney Water Processes/Standards
- Interfacing with Plant Operations to identify commissioning and handover requirements to support production and asset availability targets, quality and safety standards.
- Conducting asset management audits and reviews, including regulatory, licence and internal compliance activities, and track and close out audit findings and improvement actions.
- Business case development - supporting investment decisions for renewals and new generation projects.
- Market engagement, tendering and commercial negotiations for service and asset procurement.
About You
You will have the ability to lead and deliver renewable energy projects in collaboration with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and Sydney Water contractors. In addition to an Engineering degree, science degree or related discipline (with a focus or experience with Electrical Engineering infrastructure), you will also have:
- 5+ year’s professional experience in Plant Operations and/or Project Management/Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in leading the planning and delivery of the operational aspects’ complex projects (Whole project Lifecycle)
- Effective oral and written communication skills including proven ability in preparation of written reports, procedures, project communication plans, recommendations and proposals
- Ability to identify and solve complex technical, operational, and project interface issues
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple stakeholder relationships with advanced negotiation and dispute resolution skills
- A working knowledge in, and application of, appropriate legislation, corporate policies and standards
- Experience with procurement and Tender evaluation, and commercial elements of project delivery.
