Overview
The Java Developer I will assist in developing Java-based applications and data integration solutions while gaining hands-on experience in a high-volume, low-latency environment. This role will collaborate with senior team members and participate in all stages of the software development life cycle (SDLC) to build scalable and reliable systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications and TIBCO integrations in a high-volume, low-latency environment.
- Troubleshoot real-time system issues and provide timely support.
- Participate in all stages of the SDLC, including design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Implement unit tests and automated tests to ensure code quality.
- Apply Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and standard design patterns.
- Work with web services, REST APIs, and technologies like XML, JSON, and HTML.
- Use version control tools (e.g., Git) and build tools (e.g., Ant, Maven, Gradle).
- Collaborate with teams to gather requirements and define business processes.
- Adhere to Agile methodologies and participate in team activities (e.g., sprints).
- Support software releases and contribute to continuous improvement processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related
- 0-2 years of hands-on experience in Java development

- Knowledge of Java programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
- Familiarity with TIBCO systems or a strong willingness to learn.
- Exposure to web services (REST, XML, JSON) and web technologies like HTML.
- Experience with code versioning tools such as Git (academic or project work counts).
- Basic understanding of Agile methodologies (e.g., sprints, daily stand-ups).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure (willingness to learn if no prior experience).
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on debugging and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow guidance from senior developers.
- Eagerness to learn and grow with new technologies, tools, and best practices.
Other:
- Must be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust.
- This position may require the ability to operate a government vehicle. The incumbent must be at least 18 years of age, able to obtain and maintain Defensive Drivers certification and have a valid state driver’s license.

Pay Transparency Statement
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $78,000.00/Yr. - USD $124,800/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
