About the team you are joining
Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, the Project Manager's role is to successfully deliver software products and infrastructure projects as part of the Information and Data division (I&D). The successful candidate will engage with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet the defined scope, time, and budget. Coordination with various departments is essential to ensure program compatibility and resource engagement as needed. The incumbent will work with the Project Management Office, I&D teams, vendors, and business owners to deliver projects in compliance with the I&D Project Lifecycle and IATA PMO methodology.
What your day would be like
Manage projects through the entire life cycle and ensure that all necessary steps and best practices are followed. IATA uses the Agile project methodology focusing on scrum for technical project delivery. Some business activities are tracked using a traditional waterfall approach. Ensure that the project delivery process is compliant with IATA policies, meets quality standards and meets the expectations of the business stakeholders. Execute project management tasks such as technical resource allocation, development of project schedules and timelines, managing project scope, project cost estimations, managing interdependencies, managing vendor development resources, status reporting, stakeholder management, risk and issue management. Manage project team members and assign individual responsibilities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that all aspects of the project are addressed, and everyone is working towards the same goals. Facilitate sprint planning and monitor the execution while adhering to the testing process and releases planning; based-on accurate velocity calculations of the team. Maximize the team’s performance by removing any kinds of impediments / blocking points (work with the team on internal issues, escalate and follow up on external issues). Be the main motivator of the team and encourage self-management. Maintain project timeframes, IT budget estimates and regular status reports. Closely monitor the project progress and take appropriate action to address any deviations from the plan. Assist or prepare steering committees and executive communication. Ensure that the delivered and accepted product is effectively transitioned to operations through sign-offs with relevant stakeholders. This involves ensuring that the product is fully operational and ready for use with the support team and that the necessary processes are in place prior to production releases.
