Summary
Responsible for contributing to and overseeing daily production activities to meet production goals, quality standards, and cost objectives. Primarily floor-based (greater than 50% of time) and includes direct labor responsibilities in addition to coordinating and leading a team in assigned production areas.
Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Supports planning and administration of procedures and budgets. Provides input to budgetary recommendations and monitors expenditures related to direct/indirect labor and materials. Develops schedules based on manpower requirements for assigned areas. Actively participates in production operations while assisting in selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure efficient operation of the function.
Job Description
Performs required leadership responsibilities including but not limited to: implementing company policies, programs, and guidelines; supporting employee productivity and development; coordinating resources; maintaining working knowledge of Varex’s business; and sustaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for the assigned area. Works alongside team members on the production floor to ensure adherence to standards, resolve issues in real time, and meet operational targets. Assists manager in development of longer-range plans as required. Scope may include interaction with other sites and operations. Performs ongoing review of safety practices to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Ability, competence, and confidence to lead and support people in a hands-on environment

- Understanding of operations finance, particular to direct and indirect labor and associated expenses
- Knowledge with Lean Mfg, DFT, JIT or similar principles
Experience Level with Business Tools
- Familiarity and working abilities with: Project Planning, charting and presentations
- Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Business or related field
- 3+ years of related experience
- Typically no prior management experience
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
