About Opalus and OPALOpalus Investments Limited is developing OPAL, an AI-powered SaaS business operating platform for SMEs. OPAL places accounting at the core and connects finance, customers, people, projects, documents and workflow in one secure operating environment. We are establishing our software development team and office in Kochi, Kerala.
The company has completed a high-fidelity working prototype and is building the production-grade platform for an initial Australian release. Opalus is now establishing a software development office and multidisciplinary product team in Kochi, Kerala, to help take OPAL through engineering, testing, release and ongoing product development.
A permissioned AI layer is being designed across the connected business record to help users understand information, prepare work and take controlled action with appropriate approvals and audit trails.
The opportunityDesign and govern the architecture of OPAL’s secure, multi-tenant SaaS platform and provide hands-on technical leadership across engineering disciplines.
What you’ll do• Define the platform architecture, service boundaries, integration patterns and technical roadmap.
- Design tenant isolation, including the shared-application and separated-data approach appropriate to the platform.
- Define federated identity and access-management patterns across OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML and SSO.
- Set standards for APIs, events, security, scalability, resilience, observability and auditability.
- Lead architecture reviews, technical design decisions and engineering governance.
- Guide deployment, backup, disaster-recovery and future multi-region design decisions.
- Mentor engineers and work closely with product, QA, DevOps, data and security stakeholders.
What you bring• 10–15+ years of professional experience.
- Deep experience with Java 17+, Spring Boot and enterprise application architecture.
- Educational background in engineering or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of containerised and cloud-native systems using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with API gateways and integration technologies such as Kong, NGINX or cloud-native equivalents.
- Strong understanding of PostgreSQL, distributed data design and high-integrity transactional systems.
- Experience with event-driven systems using Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar technology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of SaaS security, identity, tenant isolation and compliance patterns.
- Architecture experience in accounting, ERP, banking, payments or other financial systems.
- Experience with database performance, replication, partitioning and analytical data platforms.
- Exposure to Australian accounting products and regulatory workflows.
- Experience collaborating with and influencing cross-functional stakeholders such as product, QA, DevOps, data and security teams.
- Eligible to work in India.
Location requirementThis position is based in Kochi, Kerala, India. Applicants must already be based in Kochi or be willing to relocate to Kochi.
