The Role

We are looking for a Senior Financial Analyst – Project Finance Controller to support large, complex defence system integration projects.

This role combines project financial control with forward-looking analysis, financial modelling and business partnering. You will work closely with Project Managers, Project Directors, Finance and senior leadership to drive project performance, protect margins, improve forecast accuracy, ensure appropriate revenue recognition and strengthen cash conversion.

The role operates in an international, fast-paced and highly collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Finance Business Partner to Project Managers and Project Directors.
  • Own project budgets, forecasts, EACs and ETCs, and provide clear variance analysis.
  • Build and maintain robust financial models, scenarios and sensitivity analyses.
  • Monitor project margins, risks, opportunities, provisions and financial performance.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS 15.
  • Support month-end closing, including accruals, cost allocations, timesheets, intercompany entries and project accounting.
  • Prepare and manage project cash-flow forecasts, including multi-currency exposure.
  • Drive working-capital performance, billing discipline and cash collection.
  • Review commercial and contractual financial topics, including milestones, payment terms, change orders, claims, LD exposure, guarantees and FX impacts.
  • Prepare concise project financial reporting covering P&L, cash flow, margin, forecast, risks and opportunities.
  • Support internal and external audits and help strengthen project financial controls and governance.
  • Challenge project assumptions constructively and support management decision-making with clear financial insight.
  • Undertake other Finance-related responsibilities as reasonably required from time to time.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years of relevant experience in financial analysis, project finance, project controlling or a related role.
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience managing complex project financials, including forecasting, margin analysis, cash flow and cost control.
  • Knowledge of and practical experience with IFRS 15.
  • Advanced Excel skills, particularly financial modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Strong PowerPoint and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in an international and multicultural environment.
  • Fluency in English

Preferred

  • Experience in project-based businesses, particularly defence, aerospace, systems integration or similar complex environments.
  • Experience with Epicor.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Tempo and Confluence.
