Requirements

Candidates must have genuine, hands-on experience in TEMPEST or emanations security testing and a working knowledge of SDIP standards. An active security clearance is mandatory for this role.

Full description

Very few engineers have ever measured a compromising emanation. If you have, you already know how narrow this field is.

You will lead the TEMPEST testing programme at a NATO site in Brunssum: the facility, the certifications and the SDIP 27 level ratings.

What you will be doing

  • Organising, leading and coordinating every aspect of the TEMPEST level testing programme
  • Directing installation, modification, certification and maintenance of the testing facility
  • Performing TEMPEST level testing of commercial data processing equipment to SDIP 27 standards
  • Evaluating electric radiation signals for compromising emanations and allocating the SDIP 27 Level B or C rating
  • Investigating to detect emanations that could disclose classified information
  • Acceptance testing of equipment certified by authorised vendors against its allocated rating
  • Acting as the subject matter expert across all aspects of TEMPEST testing

What you will need

  • Genuine TEMPEST or emanations security testing experience, not adjacent RF work
  • Working knowledge of the SDIP standards and how a rating is allocated in practice
  • Instrumentation and measurement discipline, and the record keeping that certification requires
  • The judgement to run a test facility and guide others through it

Worth knowing before you apply

  • Fully on-site in Brunssum
  • This is a specialist laboratory role. If you have not done emanations testing, this will not be a fit.

Practical detail

  • Contract engagement, about 560 hours from late September to the end of December 2026
  • An active security clearance is required for this role
