Job Description

The Lead Architect owns the end-to-end technical design of enterprise applications built on Java and the Spring ecosystem. The role combines hands-on architecture of cloud-ready, event-driven microservices with technical leadership across the software development lifecycle - setting standards, mentoring engineers, driving engineering excellence and ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with business goals. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business stakeholders, to deliver innovative and future-proof solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end architecture for assigned systems, from solution design through detailed component, integration, and deployment architecture.
  • Translate business and product requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions while collaborating closely with business, product, and delivery teams.
  • Define and maintain architectural standards, best practices, governance frameworks, and technical roadmaps.
  • Ensure non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, security, availability, resilience, and fault tolerance are incorporated into all solutions.
  • Design and oversee the development of Java-based, cloud-ready microservices using Spring Boot, REST APIs, and event-driven architectures.
  • Provide architectural guidance to development teams and ensure implementation aligns with the approved architecture.
  • Partners with product and delivery leads to estimate effort, sequence work, and manage architectural dependencies and technical risks.
  • Lead the development of new features, enhancements, and modernization initiatives across the application landscape.
  • Participate in and provide technical leadership throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and support).
  • Conduct architecture and code reviews to ensure compliance with coding standards, security guidelines, and quality best practices.
  • Drive engineering excellence through Agile architecture, DevSecOps practices, CI/CD automation, and cloud adoption.
  • Optimize application performance, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and continuously improving system reliability.
  • Mentor architects and senior developers while fostering collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
  • Promote knowledge sharing through technical documentation, architecture artifacts, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to improve business outcomes and engineering capabilities

Qualifications

  • 10–12 years of experience in enterprise application development, with at least 3+ years in a Solution Architect or Technical Lead role.
  • Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale, distributed applications and microservices.
  • Strong expertise in Java SE/EE and Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security).
  • Proficiency in Java as the primary language, with working knowledge of Python or JavaScript as an advantage.
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and integration using SOAP where required.
  • Experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ and API Gateway technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and database design principles.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React.
  • Experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
  • Experience implementing DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-native deployment patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with observability and monitoring tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) and SLO/SLA definition.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience collaborating across engineering teams, business stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Ability to influence technical decisions and drive architectural governance across multiple teams.
