Responsibilities

• Develop and implement custom software solutions using Smartsheet products and third-party APIs, with a strong focus on Ruby and C#.

• Design and develop scalable integrations, middleware, and automation solutions that extend Smartsheet capabilities.

• Ensure high standards of code quality, maintainability, scalability, security, and performance.

• Lead technical consulting engagements involving custom software development, from discovery and solution design through implementation and delivery.

• Facilitate discovery sessions, requirements-gathering workshops, and stakeholder interviews to understand and document business needs.

• Translate complex or ambiguous business requirements into clear technical solutions, user stories, and solution designs.

• Design and document scalable technical solutions aligned with client objectives, including:

• Solution and system architecture diagrams

• Technical specifications

• Integration designs

• Business and technical requirements documentation

• Work directly with clients and stakeholders to analyze, clarify, prioritize, and validate requirements throughout the engagement lifecycle.

• Review and validate solution designs and technical deliverables produced by other team members, providing guidance on architecture, design quality, development standards, and best practices.

• Provide technical leadership, peer feedback, and ongoing mentorship to promote strong engineering and consulting practices.

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Smartsheet products, extensibility capabilities, and API-based integration scenarios.

• Recommend fit-for-purpose technical approaches based on client requirements, platform capabilities, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

• Assess technical feasibility, complexity, effort, and dependencies to support the Sales team with scoping, estimates, and proposal development.

• Manage technical aspects of projects, including scope, timelines, deliverables, risks, dependencies, and client communication.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the engagement lifecycle.

• Develop middleware and integration applications to automate business processes within Smartsheet, leveraging Ruby and C# as core technologies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in technical consulting, solutions architecture, software development, or a related technical field.

• Hands-on professional experience with Ruby and C# is required.

• Strong experience in requirements gathering, technical discovery, and solution design.

• 3+ years of customer-facing experience, preferably in a technical consulting or professional services environment.

• Advanced conversational English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Experience working with SaaS and/or iPaaS platforms and cloud-based applications.

• Proven ability to lead technical projects from concept and discovery through solution design, implementation, and completion.

• Strong understanding of systems architecture, integration patterns, scalability, and distributed solutions.

• Knowledge of software design patterns, development best practices, and strategies for handling large data volumes.

• Experience designing and implementing data integrations and API-based solutions.

• Experience working with Smartsheet APIs or comparable SaaS/platform APIs.

• Strong ability to translate business requirements into structured technical requirements, user stories, solution designs, and technical documentation.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and client-facing skills.
