Title and Summary

Site Reliability Engineer II

Overview Mastercard Digital Enablement Services (MDES) is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer II to help ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our digital payment platforms. This role partners with Software Engineering, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to improve system health, automate operational processes, and support highly available services.

The ideal candidate is passionate about solving technical challenges, improving system reliability, and continuously learning new technologies in a fast-paced environment.

Role -Support the reliability, availability, and performance of production applications and services. -Implement and maintain observability solutions, including monitoring, dashboards, alerts, logs, and metrics. -Troubleshoot and resolve application, infrastructure, and performance-related issues. -Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance system resilience. -Develop and maintain automation solutions using scripting and programming languages. -Support Linux/Unix environments and assist with network and infrastructure troubleshooting. -Contribute to cloud-based infrastructure and services, ensuring scalability, security, and operational efficiency. -Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and operational tooling. -Assist with capacity planning and performance optimization initiatives. -Apply incident, problem, and change management practices to support reliable service delivery. -Partner with cross-functional teams to improve system reliability, scalability, and operational excellence. -Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce manual effort through automation.

All About You -Experience supporting cloud-based applications, web applications, or distributed systems. -Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Datadog, or similar technologies. -Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, Java, Bash, or similar. -Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and basic network troubleshooting. -Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP. -Familiarity with CI/CD tools and practices. -Experience troubleshooting technical issues and participating in incident resolution. -Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. -Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. -Demonstrates initiative, ownership, and a continuous learning mindset.

Preferred Qualifications -Experience with performance testing, tuning, and optimization. -Experience with SQL and data analysis. -Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies. -Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative improvements. -Understanding of reliability, availability, scalability, resilience, and security principles. -Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience will also be considered.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Mastercard benefits for full time (and certain part time) employees generally include: insurance (including medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, disability, life insurance); flexible spending account and health savings account; paid leaves (including 16 weeks of new parent leave and up to 20 days of bereavement leave); 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time, 25 days of vacation time and 5 personal days, pro-rated based on date of hire; 10 annual paid U.S. observed holidays; 401k with a best-in-class company match; deferred compensation for eligible roles; fitness reimbursement or on-site fitness facilities; eligibility for tuition reimbursement; and many more.
