Full description

We are seeking an On-Site Level-1 Network Support Engineer to join our team in Gulou District, Fuzhou. In this role, you will serve as the first line of defense for network-related technical issues, providing both remote user assistance and hands-on physical support for office network infrastructure. You will work closely with End User Computing (EUC), Helpdesk, and senior Network Engineers to maintain a reliable and secure network environment.

Tasks

Key Responsibilities

1. Incident & Support Management

  • Respond promptly to incoming network support requests via ticketing systems, phone, email, or chat.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting for user connectivity issues, including Wi-Fi, VPN, LAN, IP conflicts, slow network performance, and access to internal shares/internet.
  • Coordinate with internal EUC and Helpdesk teams to resolve cross-domain endpoint and network issues efficiently.

2. Physical Infrastructure & Hands-On Operations

  • Inspect and verify physical cable connections, port statuses, and link lights on network switches.
  • Assist with racking, stacking, cabling, and patching network hardware under remote supervision or guided instructions.
  • Maintain strict cable management and clean practices across patch panels and server racks.
  • Ensure all network closets and server rooms remain organized, safe, and secure.

3. Administration & Maintenance

  • Accurately document and record any physical changes to network ports, patch panels, cabling, or hardware layouts.
  • Perform authorized restarts of network interfaces or devices following strict change permission protocols.
  • Perform routine checks on wireless access points and assist with basic Wi-Fi issues (SSID visibility, signal strength, coverage).

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education & Experience: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Networking, or a related technical field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Fundamental understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, Wi-Fi standard protocols).
  • Familiarity with enterprise switches, patch panels, VPN clients, and standard Ethernet cabling (Cat5e/Cat6).
  • Hands-on comfort with basic physical racking, stacking, and cable tracing/patching.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with end-users and remote higher-level technical teams.
  • Methodical approach to basic troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • High attention to detail regarding physical setup, documentation, and room cleanliness.
