Product Manager – Restaurant Ordering

About the role

The Restaurant Ordering team sits within the Operations Group and looks after the core technology used every day across our 500+ restaurants. This includes tills and payment devices, kitchen and back-of-house technology, connected devices, restaurant infrastructure, and the systems and integrations that bring everything together.

We’re looking for a Product Manager who can work at the intersection of restaurant operations, software and physical technology. You’ll understand how our restaurants work, identify and shape problems worth solving, and take responsibility for initiatives from initial idea through to successful rollout.

This isn’t a pure-play digital product role. Changes to restaurant technology can involve software, hardware, infrastructure, connectivity, suppliers and operational processes. They often need to be tested in live restaurant environments before being rolled out across hundreds of locations.

Over time, the role will also help shape our use of connected devices and Internet of Things (IoT) technology across the restaurant estate. You don’t need to be an IoT specialist, but you should be comfortable working with physical technology and interested in how connected devices can improve restaurant operations.

Our values

At Nando’s, our values guide how we work, make decisions and treat one another. We’re looking for someone who will bring these values to life:

  • Pride – taking ownership and caring about the quality of what we deliver.
  • Passion – bringing energy, enthusiasm and commitment to making things better.
  • Integrity – being honest, doing the right thing and building trust.
  • Courage – speaking up, challenging constructively and being willing to try something new.
  • Family – supporting one another and succeeding together.

What you’ll be doing

  • Own Restaurant Ordering initiatives from initial idea through discovery, build, pilot, rollout and operational handover.
  • Work closely with Restaurant Operations, Nandocas and other business stakeholders to understand problems, needs and opportunities.
  • Turn those needs into clear requirements, briefs and scope, keeping the focus on the problem we’re trying to solve and the value we expect to deliver.
  • Work with Tech Leads, engineers, infrastructure teams and suppliers during discovery to understand feasibility, explore solution options and shape the right approach.
  • Lead initiatives that may combine software, hardware, connected devices, networking, infrastructure and changes to restaurant processes.
  • Stay engaged throughout delivery to make sure the solution being built continues to meet the business and restaurant need.
  • Own stakeholder relationships and communications for your initiatives, providing clear updates on progress, decisions, risks and changes to timescales.
  • Coordinate pilots and trials of technology in restaurants, gathering feedback and using it to shape the solution and rollout approach.
  • Plan and coordinate technology rollouts across 500+ restaurants, working with Operations, Technology, Support, suppliers and restaurant teams to land change successfully.
  • Make sure solutions are operationally ready, considering areas such as installation, connectivity, support, monitoring, maintenance, training, communications, documentation and transition into BAU.
  • Manage dependencies across different restaurant technologies, teams, suppliers and business areas.
  • Work with Delivery Leads on wider programme planning, dependencies, reporting and rollout coordination.
  • Support the management of key technology suppliers and third-party deliveries within Restaurant Ordering.
  • Help explore and shape future opportunities involving connected devices and IoT technology across our restaurants.
  • Use operational data, restaurant feedback and other insights to understand whether changes are delivering the expected outcomes.
  • Balance new initiatives with the needs and constraints of a large, business-critical existing technology estate.

What we’re looking for

  • Strong product management or business analysis skills, particularly gathering requirements, understanding problems and turning them into clear scope.
  • Experience delivering products or initiatives that involve physical or operational technology, such as hardware, devices, infrastructure, connectivity or in-location systems.
  • Comfortable working with technical teams and able to understand and challenge solutions spanning both software and hardware, without needing to be an engineer.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working across Technology, Operations and senior business stakeholders.
  • A strong delivery mindset — comfortable taking ownership and driving something from an initial idea to it working successfully in restaurants.
  • Comfortable working with third-party technology suppliers and coordinating delivery across multiple organisations.
  • Able to bring structure to complex or ambiguous problems where the solution isn’t immediately obvious.
  • Pragmatic and comfortable balancing the ideal product solution with the realities of operating and supporting technology across hundreds of busy restaurants.
  • A clear communicator who can make complex problems and delivery issues easy to understand.
  • An interest in connected devices and IoT, and the potential for this technology to improve restaurant operations.

Nice to have

  • Experience working with technology in hospitality, retail or another large multi-site business.
  • Experience with point-of-sale, payments, kitchen technology or other operational systems.
  • Experience delivering connected-device or IoT initiatives.
  • Experience planning pilots and large-scale technology rollouts across physical locations.
  • Experience working with business-critical technology where reliability, connectivity and operational support are as important as delivering new features.
