POSITION SUMMARY

The Financial Analyst plays a critical role in corporate finance operations, tackling tasks such as month-end close, year-end reporting and audit, investment support, and ongoing ERP system enhancements.

Job Status: Full-Time

Start Date: August 2026

Location(s): Hybrid, 1 day in office, Waterloo, Ontario

Salary Range: $86,100-95,655

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Finance Operations & Reporting - 70%

  • Participate in month-end and year-end financial close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
  • Review and clear accounts to ensure reconciliations and adjustments are complete and accurate
  • Analyze general ledger accounts, identify discrepancies, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Support cash forecast process as required
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated and individual financial statements
  • Support investment-related reporting and analysis
  • Support investment-related account entries
  • Perform variance analyses and prepare periodic financial reports.
  • Support tax filings process
  • Review and validation of AP transaction in collaboration with Accounts Payable Manager

ERP & Administration– 15% 

  • Contribute to ongoing improvement of current processes in ERP (NetSuite and NSPB) based on organization’s learning and priorities
  • Collaborate on financial data templates to enhance reporting and planning capabilities

 

Budgeting & Financial Planning – 15%

  • Act as a finance business partner to investment teams and budget owners, providing insights and support.
  • Participate in budgeting and financial planning initiatives

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field. CPA designation is strongly preferred.

Experience: 5+ years in financial analysis, making journal entries, general ledger analysis and reconciliations.

Technical Expertise: Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, data analysis) and expertise working with ERPs, preferably NetSuite and NSPB or similar.

  • Exceptional problem solving, organization and communication abilities
  • Proven capacity to manage competing priorities in high-pressure, fast paced environments while maintaining accountability for deliverables
  • Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to seeing the “big picture” while addressing nuanced issues
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks
  • Understanding and appreciation of business principles and international development and MEDA’s approach of creating business solutions to poverty
  • Appreciation and support of MEDA’s faith statement, values and goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas
