Financial AnalystLocation: Cardiff / Hybrid (2 days a week on site)

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 dependant on qualifications and experience

At Target, strong financial insight and robust controls help us make confident decisions. We’re looking for a detail-focused Finance Analyst to support accurate reporting, maintain financial records and help strengthen processes across Group Finance.

About the role

As our Finance Analyst, you’ll support accurate financial reporting, effective controls and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

You’ll help maintain our financial records, balance sheet and statements through journals, reconciliations, analysis and close activity, while supporting audits, statutory reporting and continuous improvement.

What you’ll be doing

Supporting accurate reporting and close activity

·         Prepare and post journals accurately and on time in line with accounting policies

·         Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, including schedules and documentation

·         Assist with financial statements, reports and reconciliations

Maintaining strong controls and compliance

·         Complete balance sheet reconciliations and help resolve accounting issues

·         Maintain accurate records and evidence for reporting, controls and audit requirements

·         Support financial controls, compliance and audit activity

Providing insight and supporting improvement

·         Analyse financial information to identify anomalies, trends, risks and balance sheet movements

·         Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, automation and standard ways of working

What you’ll bring

You’re accurate, curious and confident working with detail, numbers and controls.

·         Highly accurate, analytical and confident investigating variances and risks

·         Organised and proactive, able to manage priorities during close and reporting cycles

·         A clear communicator who works well independently and as part of a team

·         Committed to continuous improvement, strong controls and compliance

Your experience

You’ll bring finance or accounting experience, with exposure to reporting, reconciliations, controls and close activity.

·         Understanding of financial accounting, journals and balance sheet reconciliations

·         Experience in finance or accounting, including analysis, reporting and month-end close

·         Knowledge of financial controls, risk management and audit or compliance processes

·         Strong Excel skills and experience using finance systems or ERP platforms

AAT, ACCA, ACA or CIMA study or part-qualification would be beneficial (not essential), as would knowledge of IFRS or UK GAAP.
