The Timken Company sells some of the world's most sophisticated magnetic field encoders. The Engineering Manager leads the Encoders technical team, including product R&D, applications engineering, testing, and technical support. This role oversees team prioritization, project management, customer delivery, and support of the sales process from quote to ongoing customer support.
Team Leadership:
Leads and manages a team of direct reports consisting of application and development engineers and technicians, both on-site and at remote Timken facilities
Set clear objectives, expectations, and performance metrics for the team. Mentor and provide guidance as necessary.
Customer Engagement:
Collaborates with the Timken Encoders sales and marketing teams to identify and understand customer requirements, ensuring the development of tailored magnetic position sensor solutions.
Engages with key customers worldwide to address technical inquiries, provide product demonstrations, and build strong relationships.
Product Development:
Works closely with R&D personnel, both locally and globally, to translate customer needs into product specifications and features.
Quality Assurance:
Ensures that magnetic position sensor applications meet high-quality standards by overseeing testing and validation processes of prototypes and customer specific designs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Collaborates with various departments, including sales, marketing, and product development, within the Keene, NH, location to align strategies and drive successful product launches.
Technical Expertise:
Stays up-to-date with Timken and competitors magnetic position sensor technologies, industry trends, and applications to guide application development and customer support efforts.
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, Masters preferred
12+ years related experience with involvement in Customer & Application Support, Magnetic Field Theory, Intellectual Property (IP) Awareness, Cross-functional Collaboration, Project Management, and Team Leadership & Development
Other Technical Requirements:
Magnetic Sensing Technology – In-depth understanding of magnetic encoders, Hall-effect sensors, AMR, GMR, and TMR technologies.
Sensor Design & Development – Experience in designing and optimizing sensor solutions for industrial, automotive, and robotic applications.
Signal Processing & Data Analysis – Proficiency in filtering, conditioning, and processing sensor signals for high accuracy and performance.
Embedded Systems & Firmware Development – Familiarity with microcontrollers, DSPs, FPGA, and embedded software and firmware algorithms for sensor integration.
Mechanical & Electrical Integration – Experience in integrating sensors with mechanical systems and electrical interfaces.
Test & Validation Methods – Expertise in sensor calibration, environmental testing, and performance validation.
This position may require access to United States export controlled technical data (“CTD”) and hardware under the Departments of US State (ITAR) and/or Commerce (EAR).
