IS Claims Operations is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support the stability, reliability, and continuous improvement of ICBC’s Claims systems. This role will perform business systems analysis, support low-to-medium complexity requirements and solution design, participate in testing, and help ensure system solutions meet business and operational needs.
The IS Claims Operations team is responsible for keeping Claims systems stable, available, secure, and operable in production, including production support, incident response, release coordination, monitoring, operational readiness, and reducing operational risk and complexity.
Job Responsibilites:
- Elicit, analyze, and translate business input into functional and non-functional requirements for Claims system changes.
- Support incident triage by helping identify business impacts, root causes, and potential resolutions for issues within the Claims portfolio.
- Participate in solution analysis for small-to-medium complexity system changes, including assessing interdependencies, operational impacts, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Support implementation and verification of system changes, including quality assurance, requirements traceability, and end-user testing support
- Plan, coordinate, execute, and sign off on testing for medium-complexity changes, working with senior analysts and delivery teams where required.
- Create and maintain clear operational documentation, functional specifications, support procedures, runbooks, and end-user documentation.
- Facilitate or participate in cross-functional meetings to understand business needs and align stakeholders with different objectives.
- Support release, deployment, and operational readiness activities, including production validation, go/no-go inputs, and transition-to-operations readiness.
- Work closely with Application Delivery, Product Owners, Service Desk, TOC, Enterprise Release Management, Platform teams, vendors, and operational partners to support stable Claims operations
Job Requirements:
- Guidewire certification is preferred.
- Experience with Guidewire ClaimCenter, Guidewire PolicyCenter, or Guidewire production support would be an asset.
- Experience supporting operational readiness, release validation, production incidents, or business verification testing would be an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess business and technology impacts across systems.
- Ability to translate business needs into functional and non-functional requirements.
- Experience supporting production systems, incident analysis, operational troubleshooting, and post-implementation validation.
- Understanding of software development lifecycle concepts, application architecture, testing practices, and automated testing concepts
- Experience with Claims systems, Guidewire ClaimCenter, ContactManager, integrations, batch processes, or legacy Claims applications would be an asset.
- Familiarity with operational support tools and processes such as HPSM, Splunk, ITSM incident/change processes, release coordination, monitoring, and access management would be beneficial.
- Ability to write clear documentation, support procedures, functional specifications, and training materials.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple concurrent tasks in an environment with changing deadlines and priorities.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to present recommendations to technical teams, business partners, and client groups.
- Interest in operational excellence, system stability, risk reduction, process improvement, and continuous improvement within Claims operations.
- Knowledge of Claims business processes, Claims integrations, or legacy Claims applications would be beneficial.

Work arrangements defined:
- Hybrid 8 – you will work a minimum of 8 days in a 4-week period at your primary office headquarters (typically 2 days per week). The remaining days will be remote within British Columbia.
