Position Summary:

The Microbiology intern will be responsible for performing a range of microbiological, analytical and/or sensory analysis on products, raw materials and facilities to assure that all corporate and regulatory standards are met as they pertain to product safety, quality and plant sanitation. Support other FSQA programs as required.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform microbiological, analytical and/or sensory analysis of samples received from manufacturing plants, R&D, Purchasing and Consumer Services departments.
  • Maintain corporate analytical records.
  • Ensure proper functioning, cleanliness and maintenance of laboratory and laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Procedures.
  • Participate in development and evaluation of new methods.
  • Perform product inspections from co-manufacturing facilities and maintain required records and reporting.

What You’ll Need

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Science, preferably in Food Science, Microbiology or Biology (or equivalent experience)
  • Self-starter, with lots of initiative and highly motivated.
  • Solid computer skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Focus on detail and accuracy.
  • Aptitude for lab work.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Seafood HACCP preferred, strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to safely handle, test, and taste seafood products as part of product evaluation process.

Pay Range: $20-$25/hour

Candidates must have permanent U.S. work authorization
