Product Manager

As the Product Manager, you get to influence which products B-Y sells, the product vision, and the strategy to bring them to our customers. You maintain the relationships with product line vendors from beginning to end, and you know your product lines inside and out.

The day to day

You “own” the product lines. Anything having to do with one of the products under your area of responsibility will connect back to you for strategy, problem-solving, oversight, or training.

You lead the product line planning process. This includes everything from sales and financial forecasting and monitoring to promotions, training, and helping with inventory stocking strategies.

You understand the value of great partnerships with our vendors, and you use those to negotiate product cost, marketing funds, promotional programs, incentives, and rebates.

You are the conduit between the vendor and the rest of the B-Y team. You teach about new products, you go on customer visits with TMs, you organize demonstrations for our branch teams and the TMs, and you continuously help to trouble-shoot any issues and questions as they come up.

You partner closely with Marketing and Purchasing to ensure promotional programs are communicated and well-utilized and that vendors are fulfilling their contracts.

You work with the pricing manager to determine pricing strategies to best position the product.

You will travel to various locations to assist with training or to meet with customers. This includes occasional overnight travel.

As a direct partner with the sales, marketing, and purchasing teams, you are ready and willing to be of service with issues and projects however you can.

What you have

Ability to work in Grand Rapids two days per week.

You know the HVAC industry, its challenges and its opportunities. This wisdom comes after several years of experience.

You have a solid education and breadth of experience that includes market analysis, sales, and technical aspects of HVAC.

No one questions your message because you have fantastic written and verbal communication skills. This includes a high level of emotional intelligence to assess how others perceive your communication.

You are a formidable negotiator.

You already know Microsoft applications, and you are ready and willing to learn any company software or system.

You have a willingness to learn new things and take on new responsibilities.

Typically Monday-Friday. There will be significant travel, and you may end up working on weekends occasionally. This is not necessarily an 8:00 am-5:00 pm job.
