About the Role
A fast-growing, seed-stage AI developer tools startup is hiring a Pre-Sales Deployed Engineer based in London (with possible expansion to Germany). This company builds AI-powered coding tools used by developers across a wide range of industries and enterprise teams.
This is a hybrid sales + engineering role — not one or the other. You'll partner closely with an Account Executive to close enterprise deals, acting as the resident technical expert and product advocate. You'll run 4-week technical pilots with prospective customers' dev teams, lead kickoff calls, host office hours, and even pair-program with engineers to demonstrate real, hands-on value. If you're a strong engineer who also loves selling, this role was built for you.
This is a fully on-site position, 5 days per week in the London office. Visa sponsorship is available.
What You'll Do
- Present the product's vision, benefits, and differentiators to stakeholders at every level — from individual developers to C-suite executives.
- Drive technical product discussions, lead evaluations, and demonstrate how the platform addresses diverse enterprise use cases.
- Design and run structured 4-week technical pilots with prospective customers' engineering teams.
- Deliver technical training sessions, live demos, and pair-programming sessions alongside customers.
- Create and maintain technical collateral, documentation, and enablement resources (guides, blogs, videos) tailored to enterprise developers.
- Gather and synthesize customer feedback, relaying actionable insights to Product and Engineering to influence the roadmap.
- Travel to customer sites and industry events as needed to support engagements.
What We're Looking For
Dealbreakers:
- 1+ years of solutions or pre-sales engineering experience for a technical product (developer tools experience strongly preferred).
- Strong programming skills in at least one object-oriented language; demonstrated ability to pair-program with customers in real time.
- CS degree from a top-tier program, or equivalent demonstrated strong CS fundamentals.
Required:
- Fluency in both German and English.
- Hands-on experience with AI-powered developer tools (e.g. Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar LLM-based tools).
- Experience delivering technical training, live demos, and producing customer-facing documentation and enablement resources.
- Ability to create and maintain technical collateral tailored to enterprise customers.
- Clear, confident communication of technical concepts to software developers at all levels.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and events to support engagements.
- High emotional intelligence and a closing mindset — this is a pre-sales role, not post-sale implementation.
Nice to Have:
- Experience presenting to and engaging with C-suite and executive stakeholders.
- Experience gathering and synthesizing customer feedback to inform product roadmap decisions.
- Track record of successful enterprise software deployments or customer adoption initiatives.
- Demonstrated executive presence; capable of confidently leading product kickoffs with enterprise customers.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $108,000 – $140,000 USD annually (EUR-equivalent compensation available for Germany-based candidates).
- Visa sponsorship available.
Location
- Primary: London, England, UK — fully on-site, 5 days per week.
- Candidates based in Germany may also be considered; compensation and workplace details may vary accordingly.
