Full description
Who is Quantium?
Quantium is a world leader in data science and artificial intelligence. Established in Australia in 2002, Quantium is a global team of more than 1,200 people across 14 locations with a unique blend of capabilities across product and consulting services to help businesses unlock value from data and analytics. Quantium partners with the world's largest corporations to forge a better, more intelligent world.
We're ALL in on AI — transforming ourselves into an AI-native organisation while helping our clients do the same. With 23 years of domain expertise, proprietary data partnerships, and industry-leading AI adoption (90% weekly active usage), we are at the forefront of what's possible with data.
The Role
We're recruiting a Data Scientist into Transformation AI, part of the Quantium Telstra team. Transformation AI builds the analytics, models and AI solutions that run inside Telstra's operational systems, supporting Telstra's Connected Future 30 strategy. The work has real commercial and customer impact — feeding major business decisions and powering capabilities used across Telstra every day.
In this role you'll design and build data science solutions and help shape how they're used. You'll work with both technical and non-technical partners to turn model outputs into insights people can actually act on, and contribute to models running live in production.
What You'll Do
- Data and feature engineering: Use Python and SQL to analyse data, engineer features, and support model development
- Model development: Work with a team of data scientists to build, test, and improve predictive models and AI solutions used in live decisioning systems
- Data product development: Take raw model outputs and transform them into data products that slot cleanly into business processes and decisioning
- GenAI and LLMs: Experiment with and build GenAI/LLM capabilities — including prompting, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflows — to complement and extend our existing solutions
- End-to-end solution design: Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to design and deliver solutions that make model insights easy to understand — from problem definition through to deployment
- Delivery and improvement: Support experimentation, validation, and ongoing improvement of solutions already in production
What You'll Bring
- Proficiency in Python and SQL
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- The ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical people
- The ability to work independently while collaborating well within a team
- A working understanding of predictive modelling (e.g. GBM), or a genuine willingness to upskill
- Working knowledge of GenAI and LLMs — including prompting, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and building agentic workflows — or a genuine willingness to upskill
- Curiosity and a keenness to learn in an applied analytics environment
Nice to Have
- Exposure to AWS and/or Azure — experience with any cloud tech stack is welcome
