About the role

Full description
An enterprise service performance dashboard has come out of prototype and now hasreal users, real feedback and a growing list of service providers who need to feed data into it.A small analytics team is being formed to take it further: more features, a better interface, andpipelines that can absorb far more service data than they do today.
You would be one of five analysts in that team, working alongside a service level manager, onsite with the customer's own technical staff.
What you would be doing
- Analysing how services are performing and turning that into metrics people will actually acton.
- Designing and building new dashboard features, from the first look at user feedback throughto the released version.
- Improving the experience of using the dashboard — the visualisations, the accessibility andthe plain usability of it.
- Designing the data collection interface: formats, measurements and controls, written up as aspecification and taken through a formal review with the people who will use it.
- Building, testing and deploying that interface so several service providers can supply theirown performance data to one standard.
- Building and automating the pipelines behind it with Python and modern ETL tooling, so thedashboard scales as more services are added.
- Operating and maintaining what you build — incidents, access requests, user questions andtraining — against agreed availability and resolution targets.
- Keeping the as-built documentation, use cases and data model accurate as the thing changes.
What you would bring
- A relevant degree from a recognised university and at least four years of related experience,as a data analyst, data scientist or UX designer.
- Demonstrable Python, and SQL against relational databases such as SQL Server.
- Real depth in data visualisation, principally Power BI.
- Experience building and integrating APIs so that monitoring can be driven by data ratherthan by hand.
- Experience managing data flows with ETL and ELT tooling — Apache NiFi specifically isrequired.
- Sound knowledge of KPIs and formal reporting through dashboards, including how to designuser-experience metrics and monitor them.
- Practical UX and UI design skills, and experience of IT service management.
- The ability to write technical documentation, requirements and user guides, and to translatebetween what users ask for and what gets built.
- Excellent spoken and written communication, with good briefing skills.
