Job Description:

The PHP Application Developer will support the sustainment and enhancement of web-based applications used by the AFSAC IT Services Division. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and developing PHP-based systems integrated with DoD platforms, sustaining day-to-day operational functions, collaborating with working groups, and ensuring reliability, security, and performance.

Maintenance and Sustainment

  • Provide maintenance and sustainment support for AFSAC web applications and mission systems
  • Adhere to AFSAC Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Governance, and Configuration Management processes
  • Support and troubleshoot production, test, development, and non-production environments
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain web-based applications in both on-premises and cloud-hosted environments
  • Modernize legacy applications through framework upgrades, code refactoring, and user interface enhancements to improve security, maintainability, and performance

Operations Support

  • Track, prioritize, and resolve Helpdesk application and operational support requests
  • Monitor and support service delivery activities to ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Perform application administration activities for on-premises and cloud-hosted environments
  • Create, maintain, and update technical documentation, configuration management artifacts, and operational procedures
  • Support PHP and IIS hosting environments, including troubleshooting, deployments, configuration management, and system maintenance

Software Development

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and refine functional and technical requirements
  • Develop project plans, schedules, and task estimates based on requirements analysis and customer priorities
  • Design, develop, test, document, and deploy software solutions using PHP and related technologies
  • Maintain application source code, supporting libraries, and software repositories
  • Produce and maintain system documentation, test plans, training materials, data dictionaries, and related software development artifacts in accordance with AFSAC's SDLC methodology

Required Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a current DoD IAM Level I certification (e.g., Security+, Cloud +, CND)
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a favorable National Agency Check Investigation (NACI) clearance
  • Proficiency in PHP (including modern frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony).
  • Experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journeyman-level experience with .NET for supporting cross-platform or legacy system integration
  • Experience with AFSAC Online (AOL), DoD or FMS-related systems
  • Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and frontend frameworks
