Inertial Product Design and Engineering Mid-Level Manager

The Space Mission Systems (SMS) Integrated Electronics Capability is seeking an Inertial Product Design and Engineering Mid-Level Manager (Level L) for the Inertial Design and Product Development group located in Heath, Ohio.

This leader will have full and complete Responsibility, Accountability, and Authority (RAA) for the research and development, program management, engineering and test support of Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) in the Integrated Electronics Capability portfolio. Additionally, this leader will oversee the newly added factory electronics troubleshooting capability in Heath, Ohio.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical design approach for IMUs
  • Respond to new business RFIs/RFPs
  • Drive design transition to production for new products
  • Lead the hardware anomaly investigations in the factory
  • Guide the development of the engineering team
  • Drive the implementation of IPDM across all programs at the site
  • Partner in development activities with entities external to Boeing
  • Mentor employees aspiring to enter management or who are early-career engineering managers at the site
  • Seek process improvements to make the execution of the team more effective and efficient

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active)
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 5+ years of experience in management or leading teams
  • Experience with Inertial Measurement Units
  • Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) or something similar
  • Experience leading projects that require integration across business units and/or multiple functions
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% of the time both domestically and internationally

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience as a manager of > 10 direct report engineers
  • Experience working with multidiscipline engineering teams (e.g., systems/test engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers) in repair, sustainment, and low rate development/production environments
  • Experience with managing opportunities and risk
  • Experience with acquiring and managing IR&D, Capital and OH funding
  • Masters degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Experience with data analytics, critical thinking, and structured problem solving (e.g.,Boeing Problem Solving Model)
  • Track record of identifying and implementing process and tool improvements to enhance training outcomes
  • Prior experience supporting high-visibility projects for senior leadership and customers
  • Experience in weapons systems
  • Experience communicating with senior managers and executives, customers (internal and external), business partners / suppliers / subcontractors, and government representatives
  • Ability to adjust priorities to multiple demands and unanticipated events
  • Demonstrated skills in establishing, managing and administering multiple projects concurrently
