Full description

You are part of the System Engineering Team in the Process Control Solutions division of Carl Zeiss SMT GmbH and work in an interdisciplinary team of system engineers and product developers in system design and the development of wafer tools for automated inspection and metrology of semiconductor wafers. For the portfolio of various inspection and metrology tools, you ensure that the different products achieve maximum commonality in terms of standard modules in both hardware and software and are optimized from an economic perspective.

Your Role:

  • Collecting and analyzing the requirements of various stakeholders to ensure that the wafer inspection tools meet the needs of the customers
  • Consolidating and unifying the various products during further development, constantly considering the cost and benefit of unification
  • Ongoing development and use of standard modules for hardware and software to maximize reusability and interoperability between different products
  • Developing a modular system architecture that facilitates the integration of hardware and software components and improves maintainability
  • Close collaboration with hardware engineers, software developers, and other departments to ensure that the developed solutions comply with common standards
  • Participating in the development and execution of test plans to validate the standard modules and ensure the quality and reliability of the products
  • Supporting the planning and execution of projects to ensure that the development of wafer inspection and metrology tools remains within the established time and budget frameworks

Your Profile:

  • A very well-completed degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, physics, physical engineering, and several years of professional experience; a PhD is advantageous
  • Experience in the product development of complex systems and machines in industrial metrology; ideally in the semiconductor environment
  • Profound knowledge in system architecture and the development of modular solutions
  • Strong analytical thinking, systematic working methods, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate interdisciplinarily with various stakeholders
  • Knowledge of programming languages and software development is an advantage
  • Willingness to work in a highly dynamic work environment
