This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer / Platform Engineer based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to shape and scale the infrastructure powering a suite of mission-driven technology products.The successful candidate will help build and evolve an internal developer platform that enables engineering teams to deliver software safely, efficiently, and independently.You will work at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, automation, and reliability, taking ownership of complex technical systems.The position combines hands-on development, platform architecture, and operational excellence within a remote-first engineering environment.You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, improve developer workflows, and create scalable solutions that support business growth.This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced DevOps professional who enjoys solving challenging problems, driving innovation, and using AI as a productivity multiplier.

Accountabilities

  • Own and evolve the internal developer platform as a software product, including architecture, codebase, workflows, and roadmap development to support engineering teams.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices, primarily with Terraform Cloud, while expanding expertise across GCP, AWS, and Azure environments.
  • Manage Kubernetes-based workloads with Helm, ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Create tools, automation, and processes that enable engineers to self-serve deployments, configurations, and operational workflows safely.
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to understand technical challenges, improve developer experience, and establish clear ownership boundaries between teams.
  • Support reliability initiatives by defining service objectives, planning capacity, conducting resilience exercises, and reducing operational complexity.
  • Participate in production support and incident response activities, driving rapid resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement through blameless reviews.
  • Establish and promote modern software delivery practices, including secure development workflows, environment management, progressive delivery, and automation standards.
  • Implement security best practices including least-privilege access management, secrets management, dependency scanning, and secure infrastructure provisioning.
  • Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and design proposals to improve collaboration and technical decision-making.
  • Leverage AI-powered tools for troubleshooting, planning, implementation, and execution to improve efficiency and expand technical capabilities.

Requirements

  • 5–9 years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or software engineering roles with strong production ownership.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining production software services, with strong programming skills beyond infrastructure scripting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on professional experience.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with the ability to design, develop, and maintain internal tools, automation, and production systems.
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, including provisioning, upgrades, and environment management.
  • Solid experience operating Kubernetes-based production workloads and familiarity with Helm.
  • Strong cloud knowledge, particularly with GCP, with the ability and willingness to expand experience across AWS and Azure.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, networking concepts, virtualization, and resource management fundamentals.
  • Ability to reason about databases, transactions, data flows, and system reliability challenges.
  • Strong architectural judgment with the ability to define ownership boundaries and scalable technical solutions.
  • Excellent technical communication skills, including writing clear documentation, design proposals, and technical diagrams.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment with changing priorities and complex challenges.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to independently investigate issues and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, Notion AI, or similar technologies to improve engineering workflows is highly valued.
