Assoc Data Science Analyst
The Assoc Data Science Analyst analyses data through the application of scientific methods and data-discovery tools. You will work with data and AI models to uncover insights, solve complex business problems.
About the role:
AI Solution Development
- Design and develop data science, machine learning and Generative AI solutions.
- Build and enhance Large Language Model (LLM)-enabled capabilities such as retrieval augmented generation (RAG), document understanding, information extraction, question answering, document comparison and agentic workflows.
- Explore and assess appropriate AI models, tools and techniques based on solution accuracy, reliability, latency, security, cost and operational requirements.
- Design experiments and evaluation approaches, analyse failure cases, and recommend improvements based on evidence.
- Develop maintainable Python components, services, application programming interfaces (APIs), evaluation scripts and proof-of-concept applications to support AI solutions.
- Apply sound software engineering practices, including version control, testing, code review, documentation and configuration management.
- Work with platform and engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities into broader solutions and support deployment readiness.
- Keep abreast of developments in data science, machine learning, Generative AI, natural language processing and agentic AI, and assess their relevance.
Prepare Data Sets
- Drive data collection efforts and extract data from data sources.
- Assist with developing new data-discovery tools.
- Propose new uses for existing data sources and structures.
- Integrate multiple datasets to build large and complex datasets.
- Apply programming abilities to build software that scrubs, combines and manages data from a variety of sources.
Analyse Data
- Apply data mining techniques and programming skills to investigate leads, identify patterns and regularities in data.
- Develop data models based on advanced statistical modelling, data mining and machine learning methods.
- Implement automated processes for efficiently producing scalable models.
- Identify areas for improvement in current processes, products/services or analytical models.
Stakeholder Engagement and Project Delivery
- Assist with the development of actionable recommendations.
- Present prototypes, evaluation results, recommendations, limitations and implementation considerations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Guide stakeholders on how to act on findings.
- Prepare clear technical documentation covering solution design, setup, testing, known limitations, operational considerations and handover requirements.
- Contribute to project planning, solution recommendations and business justification where required.
About you:
- Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Information Technology or a related discipline.
- Strong Python programming skills, with hands-on experience in data science, machine learning or Generative AI solutions.
- Exposure to LLM applications, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation or frameworks such as LangChain or LangGraph.
- Experience with machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing or LLM development frameworks.
- Experience developing APIs, backend components and data workflows, including integration with SQL, NoSQL, vector databases, enterprise platforms or external APIs.
- Familiar with cloud platform such as Microsoft Azure or AWS AI and their machine learning services
- Experience with software development practices and tools such as Git, Jupyter, testing, technical documentation and model/application evaluation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, take ownership and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
