Mission

As a Customer Journey Expert – Merchant Acquiring, you will help shape and improve ING’s acquiring products and customer journeys across POS, SoftPOS and E-commerce solutions. You will work closely with Business Banking and Wholesale Banking stakeholders to deliver seamless, customer-centric and scalable payment acceptance experiences for merchants.

You will act as the bridge between customers, business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring that acquiring solutions deliver value while meeting operational, regulatory and risk requirements.

Your day-to-day

  • Analyze merchant needs, customer feedback, market trends and competitor offerings to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Design and continuously optimize customer journeys across Merchant Acquiring products.
  • Translate business and customer requirements into clear functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Work closely with engineers, architects, UX specialists and operations teams to deliver solutions that improve customer experience and business outcomes.
  • Support the delivery of POS, SoftPOS and E-commerce acquiring initiatives from concept to implementation.
  • Collaborate with Business Banking and Wholesale Banking teams to understand customer needs and support commercial growth objectives.
  • Monitor customer journey performance and identify opportunities for automation, simplification and digitization.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, card scheme rules and internal risk policies.
  • Coordinate with external partners, payment processors and vendors when required.
  • Support testing, implementation and post-launch monitoring of new capabilities and improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data-driven analysis and customer insights.

What you bring to the team

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in cards acquiring.
  • The future Product Manager will develop and implement initiatives that increase the penetration of POS, SoftPOS, and E-commerce acquiring solutions among all Business Banking clients.
  • Strong expertise in: POS acquiring, SoftPOS solutions, E-commerce acquiring, Merchant onboarding and servicing processes, Card payment ecosystems and transaction flows.
  • Experience with Visa and Mastercard products and scheme requirements or experience working on acquiring products within a bank, payment institution, processor, fintech or payment service provider.
  • Good understanding of regulatory, risk and operational aspects of card payments.
  • Experience with card issuing products and processes, alternative payment methods such as digital wallets, QR payments, and instant payments, or exposure to API-based and digital product development would be plus.
  • Passion for payments, innovation and customer experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate customer and business needs into practical solutions.
  • A strong sense of ownership and the ability to proactively drive initiatives from concept to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence both business and technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and effectively balance competing priorities.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • English proficiency.
