Company Description
At PaperCut, we believe two things: great code can change the world, and a great flat white can change your morning.
Now, let's be honest, “print management” doesn't usually make people leap out of their chairs. But here at PaperCut, we've turned what used to be the most boring part of IT into one of the most exciting, impactful, and rewarding jobs in tech. How? Simply put: our code saves trees!
We're a B-Corp certified Australian success story on a mission to make our customers' tech footprint waste-free, easy, and secure. Still founder-led right here in Melbourne, our global footprint spans 195 countries, 100,000 companies, and 140 million end users (that’s roughly 1 in every 50 people on the planet!). As we rapidly evolve into cloud, SaaS, and far beyond print, we’re looking for senior domain experts and problem solvers to guide the tech roadmap and elevate those around them.
Job Description
What You'll Actually Do
This is a senior individual contributor role with big technical reach. You won't manage people, but you will set technical standards, shape strategy, and mentor fellow PaperCutters:
- Build the Foundation: You’re responsible for building and maintaining the development tools, infrastructure, and secure environments that deliver a stable and enjoyable experience for PaperCut’s customers.
- Guardian of Reliability: You’ll ensure the performance, uptime, and scale of our products. You’ll own the production monitoring and observability tools to maintain high standards of code and thoughtful solution design.
- Champion of Automation: You won't just follow the process; you'll improve it. You will identify solutions to reduce technical debt, improve team efficiency, and automate development and release processes.
- Collaborate on Quality: As part of the broader Product Development team, you’ll work cross-functionally to review code, facilitate knowledge sharing, and maintain consistent design and performance standards across our products.
What You Bring to the Table
We respect technical mastery and give you the autonomy to build and guide. You’ll thrive in this role if you bring:
- Senior Technical Depth: Extensive hands-on experience in at least one of the major cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure), with a track record of driving scalable engineering outcomes.
- Leadership Through Influence: The ability to mentor peers, champion quality, and gain buy-in for new ideas without needing a direct manager title.
- Systemic Problem Solving: Calm under pressure during incidents, with an instinct for getting to the root cause and implementing long-term technical fixes.
- Collaborative & Growth Mindset: A natural inclination to share knowledge, stay open-minded, and communicate transparently across technical and business stakeholders.
Why Join PaperCut?
- Values-Driven Culture: We live by our values: Caring, Honest, Intelligent, and Nimble (CHIN). They aren't just posters on the wall; they guide how we build products and treat each other every day.
- Share in Our Success: When the company thrives, our people do too. We offer a Share the Success bonus to all permanent employees.
- Real Ownership & Autonomy: Senior PaperCutters actively shape decisions through extended leadership groups and collaborative forums. Your expertise genuinely drives our direction.
- Generous Benefits: Enjoy up to 18 weeks of paid parental leave, flexible hybrid working arrangements, and genuine leave options.
- Authentic DEIB: Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiatives are organic and run by passionate PaperCutters, not mandated from the top down.
