Overview

BRMi is seeking a Data Access Governance Analyst to support enterprise data governance initiatives by identifying data ownership, improving access controls, and ensuring compliance with organizational security policies. This role partners with business stakeholders, engineers, and project teams to analyze data access requirements, optimize folder structures, and implement governance processes that protect sensitive information while enabling appropriate business access. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in data governance, business analysis, and IT process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of data management solutions and shared data repositories to identify and validate data owners.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document data access requirements.
  • Support engineering teams in restructuring folder hierarchies and permissions to ensure access is granted only to authorized users.
  • Monitor and maintain data access controls across enterprise file structures to ensure compliance with security and governance standards.
  • Assist in developing and implementing standardized processes for granting access during new folder creation.
  • Track data collection activities and provide timely status updates to project stakeholders and leadership.
  • Evaluate business processes, data, policies, methodologies, and performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze the impact of policy, procedural, and technology changes on business operations and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Partner with business units, project teams, and vendors to gather requirements, resolve operational issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop preventative processes using data-driven analysis.
  • Compile, validate, and prepare complex datasets for reporting, operational analysis, and management decision-making.
  • Perform benchmarking, trend analysis, and root cause analysis to identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Develop actionable recommendations based on analytical findings and communicate alternatives and potential impacts to stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements and support implementation efforts.
  • Contribute to the development and documentation of best practices related to data governance and access management.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies, procedures, security standards, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience supporting data governance, data management, business analysis, or access governance initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of IT policies, security principles, and data access management.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex business and technical issues.
  • Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and technical personnel.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating within a team environment.
  • Experience translating business requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

Desired:

  • Experience supporting enterprise data governance or information management programs.
  • Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) or role-based access control (RBAC) concepts.
  • Experience with data classification, access reviews, or file share governance initiatives.
  • Knowledge of reporting, business intelligence, or data analytics tools.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives and developing governance documentation.
  • Previous experience in a large enterprise or highly regulated environment.
