Position Summary
The Jr. Project Manager independently manages smaller-scope projects from initiation through closeout, while also supporting the Manager of the PMO and senior Project Managers on larger, more complex initiatives. This role applies PMO governance, methodology, and standards to plan and track project scope, schedule, and budget, and communicates clearly with stakeholders to keep projects on course. The Jr. Project Manager is honing their project management skill set, taking on increasing ownership as experience grows, and escalates risks or issues promptly to ensure successful delivery. This position requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and a high level of discretion, along with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution
- Independently plan and manage smaller-scope projects end-to-end, including scope, schedule, budget tracking, and status reporting.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, and status reports, adjusting timelines and priorities as project needs evolve.
Support of Senior Project Managers
- Support the Manager of the PMO and senior Project Managers on larger, more complex initiatives, assisting with scheduling, documentation, and coordination.
- Apply PMO governance, methodology, templates, and standards consistently, seeking guidance from senior team members as needed.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare and distribute clear project documentation, meeting notes, and status reports, keeping stakeholders informed and aligned.
- Track and report on project budgets, timelines, and deliverables, flagging variances for review by the Manager of the PMO.
Stakeholder Communication & Escalation
- Meet regularly with business stakeholders and project sponsors to understand requests, provide updates, and clarify expectations.
- Escalate risks, issues, and resource conflicts promptly to the Manager of the PMO to avoid project delays.
- Adhere to MedRisk’s standard practices and policies to maintain the integrity and quality of project deliverables.
Professional Development
- Actively build project management knowledge and skills through training, certifications, and mentorship, taking on increasing project ownership as experience grows.

Qualifications
- Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Project Management, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of project management experience, or in a project coordination or related support role
- Proficiency with project and portfolio management tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Smartsheet, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, taking direction well while building sound project management judgment
- Advanced analytical and time management skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Preferred:
- Exposure to Agile or hybrid delivery environments
- Relevant certifications or coursework in progress (e.g., CAPM, PMP, Certified Scrum Master)
- Experience with portfolio reporting or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Smartsheet)
- Experience managing multiple smaller projects or workstreams simultaneously
- Strong interpersonal skills, including stakeholder management and conflict resolution
