  • Location: Sydney-based role only
  • On-site Requirement: 2-3 days in office
  • Why On-site? This is a highly collaborative position involving regular face-to-face workshops and close team interaction, making in-office presence essential.

What’s the role?

As a Senior Systems Analyst, you will join Westpac's Group Customer Master (GCM) team, the enterprise customer data platform supporting customer information systems and APIs across the Group. Working across Consumer Banking, Business Banking and WIB, you will combine business, systems and data analysis expertise to understand business needs, assess system and data impacts, and support the delivery of customer data and technology initiatives across the full software development lifecycle.

Additionally, you'll collaborate with business stakeholders, architects, developers and technical teams to gather, analyse and document business, functional, integration and data requirements. You'll perform data profiling, data lineage analysis, source-to-target mapping and impact assessments, while supporting systems integration and data migration initiatives. You will also develop key artefacts such as epics, user stories and acceptance criteria to enable effective solution delivery.

You will lead analysis activities across multiple initiatives, participate in Agile delivery and planning, and help deliver scalable customer data solutions across the bank. You'll contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and capability uplift within the Business Analysis and Systems Analysis community.

What do I need?

  • Ideally a minimum of 5 to 7 years' experience as a Senior IT Business Analyst or Senior Systems Analyst within complex banking or financial services environments.
  • Expertise in requirements gathering, process analysis and translating business needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with data profiling, data mapping, data lineage analysis and impact assessment to support data-driven initiatives.
  • Customer Data application and domain experience is highly regarded.
  • Solid understanding of SQL, ETL processes, data transformation, data migration and enterprise data management practices.
  • Experience working with system integrations, APIs and interconnected technology platforms within large organisations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage effectively across business and technology teams.
  • Experience delivering technology and customer data initiatives across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) using Agile and Waterfall methodologies, with exposure to AI-enabled tools and technologies to support analysis, automation and solution delivery.
