SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Product Development Technical Writer is responsible for authoring and maintaining design, manufacturing, and process control documents to ensure successful product transition from concept to production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Develops and controls all product build instructions and manuals (part specific).
- Accountable to ensure all instructions and manuals are written with the six-sigma philosophy – DFSS.
- Provides leadership for safety and the environment.
- Ensures successful completion of assigned project phases within the budgeted time.
- Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.
- Understand the importance of designing, building, and operating safe systems. Basic knowledge and understanding of basic safety work processes such as JSA’s and MOC’s.
- Demonstrate commitment in the successful EH&S management of chemical processes and facilities.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- Comply with applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations, Company policy and accepted safe work practices.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- BS in English or Technical field or 4-7 years’ occupational experience.
- 1-5 years of technical writing experience in semiconductor, aerospace, medical or automotive manufacturing industry
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Semiconductor industry experience and manufacturing/process knowledge strongly desired.
- Engineering/Manufacturing background desired.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks Composer or similar technical publication software desired.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:
- Standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, walking, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, or bending to the floor.
- Occasionally lifting and/or moving items up to 40 pounds.
- Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to differentiate shades and color to identify coating defects.
- Near acuity or accommodation required for reading instrumentation and documentation, dial and digital gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of coating operations.
- Ability to handle delicate parts.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT OF THE JOB:
- Regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts, ovens, and risk of burns.
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
- High noise levels from operating machines.
- The employee will be required to use personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent exposure to hazardous materials commonly used in a manufacturing environment (i.e., safety glasses and shoes, gloves, ear plugs/covers, mask, cleanroom suit).
- Low noise levels in office environment.
- High noise levels while working near operating machines.
- Physical hazards while working near moving equipment and mechanical parts.
- Possible breathing of fumes, odors, dust, and mist.
