BizFirst is assisting our client with recruiting a skilled and experienced Systems Engineer. This position supports the following program: a signals intelligence (SIGINT) processing systems program that develops and integrates data ingest, protocol processing, and microservice-based mission software for an Intelligence Community customer. The position is onsite at Fort Meade, MD, and the role is open now for an immediate start.

Our client is a Woman Owned Small Business that has supported U.S. defense and intelligence missions since 2012. Founded by two engineers, its systems, software, and hardware engineering teams model, analyze, design, integrate, develop, and deploy complex mission systems side by side with government customers, and the company also builds rugged RF hardware for specialized SIGINT applications. It works alongside many of the largest national security integrators and operates from Columbia, Maryland, near Fort Meade.

What will you do

Move from system administration into systems engineering on a SIGINT software team. You will provide maintenance and support to the software team, perform installs, configuration, integration, patches, and security architecture changes, and keep sensor systems optimized and running. You will contribute to systems engineering documentation, including requirement specifications and Interface Control Documents, and coordinate the resolution of action items from meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that cross disciplines. This role is written for a system administrator ready for the next step, and the customer will consider both Level 0 and Level 1 candidates.

Responsibilities:

• Provide maintenance and support to a SIGINT software team.
• Perform installs, configuration, integration, patches, and security architecture changes.
• Optimize and maintain sensor systems.
• Contribute to systems engineering documentation, including requirement specifications and Interface Control Documents.
• Coordinate the resolution of action items from meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems, and automate routine tasks with shell and Bash scripts.

Requirements:

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, or Engineering Management, which on its own meets the experience requirement for this role. Five (5) years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
• System administration or systems engineering experience in a Linux environment.
• Experience performing installs, configuration, integration, and patching.
• Proficiency with the Linux/Unix command line and shell/Bash scripting.
• Clear written communication for requirements, interface, and review documentation.
• Ability to work onsite at Fort Meade, MD.

Desired Skills

• Experience working with containerized software.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience supporting SIGINT or other Intelligence Community mission systems.
