Due to our growth, we are seeking a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and support on-premises Microsoft SQL Server environments. This role ensures database performance, availability, security, reliability, and recovery across mission-critical systems. Description of Duties:
- Install, configure, maintain, patch, and upgrade on-premises SQL Server 2022 instances across development, QA, and production environments.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and tune queries, indexes, execution plans, CPU, memory, and I/O utilization.
- Design and maintain full, differential, and transaction log backup strategies, and regularly test restore procedures.
- Implement and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and replication.
- Manage database users, roles, permissions, encryption, and security policies in alignment with corporate and regulatory standards.
- Monitor database health, logs, alerts, storage, and growth trends to maintain reliability and support capacity planning.
- Perform routine maintenance, including index rebuilds, statistics updates, and integrity checks.
- Automate recurring database administration tasks using PowerShell, SQL Server Agent, or other approved tools.
- Respond to production incidents and outages, provide troubleshooting, and complete root cause analysis for complex database issues.
- Partner with developers to optimize queries and database design, and support deployments, releases, and schema changes.
- Plan and implement scaling strategies that support business growth and evolving system demands.
Desired Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environments.
- Strong experience administering SQL Server 2019 and SQL Server 2022 in on-premises enterprise environments.
- Proven ability to upgrade and migrate legacy SQL Server versions (2012/2016) to currently supported releases.
- Deep knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, indexing, backup and recovery models, and query optimization.
- Experience with high availability technologies, including Always On Availability Groups, clustering, and replication.
- Proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), monitoring tools, and performance diagnostics.
- Solid understanding of Windows Server, storage concepts, database security, access control, and disaster recovery planning, including RPO and RTO concepts.
- Experience automating database administration tasks with PowerShell, SQL Server Agent, or comparable scripting tools.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience supporting enterprise, multi-server environments and hybrid on-premises and cloud architectures preferred.
- Exposure to SSIS, SSRS, data warehousing concepts, or relevant Microsoft Azure and SQL certifications preferred.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent job-related experience required.
