JOB POSITION

  • Carelon Global Solutions India is seeking an Assistant Delivery Manager I who will be responsible for performing functional, regression, integration, and performance testing of mainframe systems.
  • Should be passionate and create test strategy, test data and execute test plans/cases specially focused on batch and Online (CICS) mainframe system.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

Associate will be responsible for the following:

Delivery & Execution

  • Own end-to-end delivery for assigned workstreams (scope, schedule, dependencies, outcomes).
  • Drive sprint/PI execution to meet committed objectives; proactively remove blockers and manage delivery slippage.
  • Maintain and communicate an integrated delivery plan (milestones, releases, cutovers, readiness criteria).
  • Manage cross-team dependencies (upstream/downstream systems, vendors, data, environments) and ensure timely alignment.
  • Track delivery health metrics (predictability, throughput, spillover, cycle time) and implement corrective actions.

Process & Agile Practices

  • Ensure backlog readiness (Definition of Ready), story quality, and clear acceptance criteria in partnership with PO/BA and team leads.
  • Reinforce agile ceremonies (planning, daily standups, refinement, reviews, retrospectives) and ensure they drive outcomes.
  • Support PI planning execution: capacity planning, risk identification, dependency mapping, and commitment tracking.
  • Promote consistent documentation of decisions/requirements to reduce ambiguity and rework.
  • Drive continuous improvement actions from retrospectives through measurable follow-through.

People Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day leadership for delivery teams (onshore/offshore), fostering accountability and collaboration.
  • Coach team leads and support team members on priorities, execution discipline, and communication norms.
  • Coordinate staffing needs: onboarding/offboarding, backup coverage, skill alignment, and utilization.
  • Identify capability gaps and support training/mentoring plans (domain, tools, automation, process).
  • Maintain team engagement and psychological safety; address behaviors impacting morale or responsiveness.

Quality

  • Ensure test strategy and quality gates are defined and executed (unit, SIT, UAT, regression, automation where applicable).
  • Drive defect management: triage, severity alignment, RCA trends, and prevention actions.
  • Ensure traceability from requirements → stories → test cases → results for auditability and release confidence.
  • Monitor quality metrics (defect leakage, rework rate, test pass rate, automation coverage) and act on trends.
  • Ensure non-functional needs are considered where relevant (performance, security, reliability).

Compliance & Risk

  • Maintain RAID logs; identify risks early with mitigation options and clear owners/dates.
  • Ensure adherence to governance expectations (security, access controls, PHI/PII handling, change management).
  • Support compliance needs through documentation, approvals, and evidence collection (as required by program).
  • Drive release risk assessments and ensure readiness criteria are met before production deployment.
  • Escalate issues appropriately with data-driven impact statements and recommended paths forward.
  • Ensure all the mandatory trainings and SNOW timesheets are completed on time.

Operational Excellence

  • Standardize execution routines (status reporting, action tracking, dependency management, release checklists).
  • Improve delivery efficiency by reducing waste (rework, unclear requirements, excessive context switching).
  • Establish and track SLAs/turnaround expectations for environments, data refreshes, and support queues (where applicable).
  • Promote automation and tooling adoption (CI/CD, test automation, monitoring dashboards) in partnership with DevOps/QA.
  • Capture and operationalize lessons learned; build reusable templates and playbooks.
  • Ensure financials are met within the targets.

Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary delivery point of contact for business and technology stakeholders for assigned scope.
  • Provide clear, consistent communication on progress, risks, decisions needed, and timeline impacts.
  • Facilitate alignment between PO/Business, Architects, Engineering, QA, and Operations.
  • Manage expectations by translating technical constraints into business impact and tradeoffs.
  • Drive governance cadences (weekly status, monthly status, steering inputs, release readiness) with transparent reporting.

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree

EXPERIENCE

  • 12+ years of experience in Delivery Management.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Delivery ownership & execution discipline: ability to plan, track, and drive commitments to completion across multiple workstreams.
  • Agile/SDLC competence: strong understanding of Scrum/PI execution, backlog readiness, and translating scope into actionable, testable stories.
  • Healthcare domain awareness: working knowledge of payer concepts (claims, eligibility, benefits, provider, quality, regulatory context) to engage effectively with business.
  • Stakeholder & communication skills: clear status reporting, expectation management, and the ability to secure timely decisions from business/IT leadership.
  • Risk, dependency & issue management: proactively identify cross-team dependencies, quantify impact, and drive mitigation/escalation with options.
  • Quality mindset: focus on acceptance criteria, test strategy, defect triage, and reducing rework/defect leakage through prevention.
  • Data/technical fluency: comfortable with APIs, integrations, SQL/data validation, and environment/release concepts to challenge and support teams.
  • People leadership & collaboration: coach teams, handle conflicts, create accountability, and foster a respectful onshore–offshore working model.
