American Express Co. is pleased to post the position of Project Manager for the Design and Construction department within the Global Real Estate and Workplace Experience division (GREWE). The role will be focused on the Centurion lounge Program which is a specific Product of American Express built for the Global Premium Products and Benefits Department. The Centurion Lounge Program started in 2012 as premium benefit offering supports the American Express Brand through a tangible and memorable Premium lounge experience. The Lounges express the American Express Brand through a combination of functionality, customer service, and calming and pleasing aesthetics easing the difficulties of travel in today’s stressful modern airport environment.
The Centurion Lounge Program currently includes 20 completed projects in the US, 2 completed projects internationally, a number in development, and several lounge locations worldwide that are operational but will be re-branded as Centurions. A Lounge will typically be between 8,000 and 18,000 SF and include a complicated and full complement of amenities as well as support spaces to support the offerings. The Centurion Lounges are a Premium product; high end Brand conscious design detailing combined with a clarity of layout and supported by a robust ‘Back of House’.
Role Overview
The Project Manager role will lead the end-to-end management of airport lounge renovation and expansion projects, ensuring seamless delivery from concept through completion and transition into operations. This role is ideal for a candidate with deep experience in high-end hospitality phased renovations and facilities management communications skills, who can balance successful project delivery, operational readiness, and stakeholder collaboration.

Core Responsibilities
- Lead communications through project development and execution: Own and manage airport lounge renovation and expansion projects end to end, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and closeout. Execute on project driven implementation strategies, leveraging consultants, to clearly identify project scope in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.
- Lead reporting: Provide clear project updates, risk assessments, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and leadership.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between internal teams of Design & Construction, Business Product and Operations Group, GRE Finance, and Brand management group.
- Manage agreements with external consultants, contractors, and specialty vendors to ensure coordinated delivery and clear accountability. Understanding of roles and responsibilities of vendors is key to managing vendor onboarding, contracting, and contract delivery ensuring projects meet high-end hospitality standards, brand expectations, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor and provide oversight of construction management activities including schedule maintenance, budget tracking, change management, and quality control to identify risks, resolve issues, and drive decisions to keep projects moving forward.
- Oversee facilities-related considerations post-renovation, ensuring long-term functionality, durability, and guest experience excellence.
- Lead the transition from site delivery into operations, ensuring lounges operations are effectively managed. Close out procedures.
- Lead project delivery within an established governance framework, ensuring consistent adherence to required processes, procedures, controls, approval gateways, and documentation standards throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain disciplined oversight of project decisions, financial commitments, procurement, change management, risk management, and reporting to ensure transparency, compliance, and accountability across internal teams and external partners.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills leading projects with a luxury or high-end hospitality component, preferably in airports, hotels, resorts, or premium guest environments.
- Experience coordinating with various stakeholder agendas with ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Experience partnering with architects, designers, contractors, and operations teams driving operationally successful spaces.
- Personnel Management experience: This position will have direct reports.
Please include general knowledge and experience:
- Project development and Implementation knowledge specifically in relation to a Program of projects similar in scope and scale to a standard lounge program.
- Knowledge of Premium Design and its importance to Brand communication, function, and project type project cost and schedule.
- Knowledge of the Construction industry and impact of economic and local contracting issues.
- Project budgeting
- Facility Management and Operations.
- Project Governance: compliant procurement strategies, financial reporting and tracking.
