What You Will Do:

At Independent Software, as a Data Scientist Level 2, you will support Big Data platforms and develop analytical solutions for complex mission data. You will use programming, data science, and computational techniques to develop and refine algorithms, analyze large datasets, and create visualizations that support data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Perform tasks associated with Big Data platform management
  • Analyze large and complex datasets using programming and analytical techniques
  • Develop prototype algorithms to address mission-specific analytical problems
  • Implement, test, and refine algorithms to improve analytical performance
  • Clean, transform, and prepare data for analysis
  • Build and automate data-processing and analytical workflows
  • Apply statistical, computational, and data science techniques to complex problems
  • Develop data visualizations to communicate analytical results
  • Document analytical methodologies, algorithms, and findings
  • Collaborate with technical and mission teams to support operational objectives

Required Skills and Qualifications:  • Experience working with Big Data platforms or large-scale data environments

  • Programming experience supporting data analysis or algorithm development
  • Experience developing, implementing, or refining analytical algorithms
  • Experience analyzing large or complex datasets
  • Experience with data manipulation, processing, and transformation
  • Experience developing data visualizations and communicating analytical results
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team

Education and Experience:

Candidates must meet one of the following:  • Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of relevant experience; OR

  • Associate's degree with five (5) years of relevant experience

Degree should be in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.

Degrees in Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Physical Sciences, or other scientific disciplines with a strong computational, mathematics, or computer science background may also be considered.

Candidates with other degree disciplines may qualify if they have earned a Data Science certificate from an accredited college or university.

Relevant experience may include machine learning, data science, advanced analytics, statistical analysis, programming, data management, data mining, data modeling, artificial intelligence, or software engineering.

Clearance Requirement:  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
