- Build and maintain database infrastructure using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code) as a core practice.
- Develop reusable Terraform modules for RDS provisioning, Networking and security configurations and Backup and DR policies.
- Implement high availability and disaster recovery strategies (multi-AZ, replicas, cross-region failover).
- Define and enforce database platform standards (provisioning, configuration, monitoring).
- Optimize performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, parameter tuning.
- Build observability and monitoring solutions (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic).
- Automate operational workflows and integrate with CI/CD pipelines.
- Support database migrations (on-prem → AWS, RDBMS → Cassandra where applicable).
- Partner with engineering teams on schema design, data modeling and scalability patterns.
- Participate in on-call rotations and drive incident response and root cause analysis.
What you will have
- 3+ years in database engineering, SRE, or platform engineering roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS RDS / Aurora (production environments), Terraform (required, not optional).
- Experience working with distributed databases (e.g. Cassandra).
- Deep understanding of High availability & DR strategies, Performance tuning, Capacity planning.
- Strong knowledge of AWS ecosystem RDS, EC2, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch.
- Experience building and maintaining Infrastructure as Code at scale (e.g. Terraform modules, State management, CI/CD integration).
- Linux systems administration experience.
- Strong troubleshooting and production incident management skills.
Nice to have
- Experience with Kubernetes-based database deployments (K8ssandra, operators).
- Familiarity with AWS DMS / migration frameworks.
