Role Summary:

We are looking for a Salesforce Solutions Architect to own our Salesforce instance end to end. You will be the technical owner of the platform that runs our go-to-market motion. You will be a part of our Business Operations team and report directly to our Senior Director of Operations.

This is a hands-on ownership role, not an advisory one. You will inherit a mature, actively used org with automations, integrations, and reporting dependencies, and you will be responsible for keeping it healthy, making it better, and expanding it to support our multi-product go-to-market strategy across ticketing, fundraising, and websites and mobile apps.

The person who succeeds here is someone who has done this at more than one company, can reverse-engineer an unfamiliar org, can receive business requirements directly from Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Finance, and can then design, build, test, and ship the change themselves. We are hiring for judgment and ownership as much as for build skill. You will be the person the business asks “can Salesforce do this?” and the person who decides the answer and implements it.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the Salesforce instance: declarative configuration, permission sets and profiles, page layouts, record types, sharing rules, sandbox strategy, and release management.
  • Maintain and stabilize: inherit the existing automation footprint (Flows, validation rules, assignment logic, approval processes), document what exists, retire what’s redundant, and eliminate the technical debt that accumulates in any fast-moving org.
  • Improve and expand: identify friction in how our reps and CS team actually work, propose the fix, and ship it. Reduce clicks, improve data quality, and make the system reflect how the business actually sells.
  • Build out our multi-product GTM in Salesforce: design the data model, opportunity architecture, product catalog, and pipeline structure required to sell, renew, and report on multiple products to the same school and district accounts. This includes cross-sell and upsell motion, product-level revenue reporting, bundling, and renewal architecture.
  • Own the integrated stack: maintain and improve how Salesforce connects to Snowflake (our data warehouse), Gong (conversation intelligence and deal insight), and our other go-to-market and billing systems. Partner on data flows in both directions and ensure Salesforce remains the trusted source of truth for GTM data.
  • Reporting and dashboards: build and maintain the reports, dashboards, and forecasting views that leadership, sales management, and Customer Success run on. Be opinionated about what “good” looks like.
  • Gather requirements autonomously: run your own discovery with stakeholders across Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, Finance, and leadership. Translate business problems into system design without requiring a project manager or business analyst in between.
  • Governance and enablement: own user management and onboarding, data hygiene standards, field and object documentation, change control, and training for end users on what you build.
  • Vendor and AppExchange management: evaluate, implement, and rationalize the third-party tools connected to the org.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 4–8 years of hands-on Salesforce experience, including primary ownership of at least one production org.
  • Experience across multiple companies’ Salesforce instances. You’ve walked into orgs you didn’t build, figured out how they work, and improved them. We need someone who has done the inheriting before.
  • Deep declarative expertise: Flow (record-triggered, screen, scheduled), validation rules, formula fields, dynamic forms, approval processes, permission set and sharing architecture, and complex data modeling.
  • Comfortable reading, debugging, and reasoning about code. You can open Apex, triggers, and Lightning Web Components, understand what they do, identify when they’re the cause of a problem, and work with a developer or vendor to fix them.
  • Reporting and data fluency: advanced Salesforce reporting, data loading and migration
  • Integration experience. You’ve owned or heavily supported Salesforce integrations with a data warehouse, conversation intelligence tooling, marketing automation, or billing systems.
  • Salesforce Administrator certification required; Advanced Administrator, Platform App Builder, or Sales Cloud Consultant strongly preferred.
  • Professional English fluency, written and verbal. You’ll be running requirements conversations directly with US-based stakeholders, including leadership.
  • Demonstrated autonomy: a track record of operating as the only Salesforce person in the room, setting your own priorities against business goals, and driving change without being managed task to task.

Nice To Have:

  • Experience in B2B SaaS selling to schools, districts, higher education, or the public sector.
  • Sandbox and deployment discipline: change sets, SFDX, Gearset, Copado, or similar.
  • Experience with Salesforce AI features (Agentforce, Einstein) or Salesforce-connected AI tooling.
  • Experience supporting a company through a product expansion, acquisition integration, or org consolidation.
  • Experience architecting multi-product or multi-line-of-business selling in Salesforce (product catalog, CPQ or CPQ-adjacent quoting, bundling, product-level revenue reporting).

Compensation: Fixed monthly amount of $5,000 USD

Our compensation ranges are determined by a variety of factors, including role responsibilities, market data, and an individual's skills, experience, and qualifications. The final offer will be based on these factors and discussed throughout the interview process.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain stationary for a long period of time, including working on a computer.
  • This position may also be required to travel to client sites or conferences. This could include standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, and while outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Hometown values the importance of demonstrating to our customers that we care and are invested in our product and how it can be the best solution for them. All Hometown employees have a minimum amount of client events they must attend per year. This may include traveling to local client sites and could include standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, and while outdoors in various weather conditions.
