Full Stack and Backend NodeJS TypeScript/JavaScript Engineer (Senior)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Full Stack and Backend NodeJS TypeScript/JavaScript Engineer (Senior) based in Brazil.

This senior engineering role offers the opportunity to build scalable, high-quality software for a diverse portfolio of challenging client projects. You’ll take primary ownership of backend development while contributing across the full stack when needed. The role focuses on designing low-latency services, scalable APIs, secure multi-tenant architectures, and reliable integrations within modern cloud environments. You’ll work with Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, PostgreSQL, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) while applying strong testing and engineering practices. You’ll collaborate closely with distributed teams and clients, contributing directly to solutions that can have a meaningful impact on their businesses. Accountabilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.

• Build low-latency Application Programming Interface (API) services in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and develop scalable RESTful APIs for complex applications.

• Design and implement integrations and Software Development Kits (SDKs) that connect applications with external and internal services.

• Develop and manage PostgreSQL and AuroraDB solutions, including Row-Level Security (RLS), schema design, migrations, and database performance.

• Build secure, scalable multi-tenant application environments with appropriate isolation and access controls.

• Write and optimize raw SQL and manage database schema migrations using tools such as node-postgres and node-pg-migrate.

• Contribute to frontend development using React when required, supporting end-to-end delivery across the application stack.

• Develop robust testing strategies, including integration testing against real databases and failure-mode or fault-injection testing.

• Create and maintain Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) applications and workflows.

• Use modern AI coding assistants as part of the daily software development lifecycle to improve productivity and accelerate delivery.

• Work effectively with large and complex systems, applying established software engineering best practices and maintaining high technical standards.

• Take end-to-end ownership of deliverables, proactively identifying risks, resolving issues, and ensuring commitments are met.

• Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to understand requirements, solve technical challenges, and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.

• Participate in a variety of projects, adapting to different technologies, architectures, and client requirements while continuously expanding technical expertise.

• Maintain strong attention to detail and contribute to a positive, collaborative, and results-oriented engineering culture.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong backend focus.

• Extensive professional experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.

• Proven experience building low-latency API services and scalable RESTful APIs in AWS environments.

• Strong experience integrating applications with external services through SDKs and APIs.

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and AuroraDB, including Row-Level Security (RLS), schema management, and database migrations.

• Experience designing and implementing secure multi-tenant environments.

• Strong SQL skills, including the ability to write raw SQL and manage schema migrations using tools such as node-postgres or node-pg-migrate.

• Professional experience with React and a solid understanding of full-stack development.

• Strong testing practices, including integration testing against real databases and failure-mode or fault-injection testing.

• Experience creating and maintaining CI/CD applications and development workflows.

• Experience using AI coding assistants as an integrated part of the software development process.

• Substantial experience working with large, complex software systems.

• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, architecture, development standards, and maintainable code.

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Ability to work with meaningful overlap during US business hours.

• Strong client focus, with a commitment to team objectives, project quality, and delivery commitments.

• Experience with append-only, event-sourced, or bitemporal data models is preferred.

• Experience with Fastify and schema-first validation frameworks such as Zod is a plus.

• Experience running containerized services using AWS Fargate or Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) is advantageous.

• Experience in compliance-sensitive or audit-heavy industries, such as fintech, telecommunications, or Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) compliance, is a plus.
