Job Description

Purpose of the role

To enable data-driven strategic and operational decision making through extracting actionable insights from large datasets, performing statistical and advanced analytics to uncover trends and patterns, and presenting findings through clear visualisations and reports.

Accountabilities

  • Investigation and analysis of data issues related to quality, lineage, controls, and authoritative source identification, documenting data sources, methodologies, and quality findings with recommendations for improvement.
  • Designing and building data pipelines to automate data movement and processing.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques to large datasets to uncover trends and correlations, develop validated logical data models, and translate insights into actionable business recommendations that drive operational and process improvements, leveraging machine learning/AI.
  • Through data-driven analysis, translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations, identifying opportunities for operational and process improvements.
  • Design and create interactive dashboards and visual reports using applicable tools and automate reporting processes for regular and ad-hoc stakeholder needs.

Join the Barclaycard Issuing Data, Insights & Workforce Management team and play a pivotal role in transforming data into meaningful business insight. As a Senior Data and Insights Analyst, you will lead the development and enhancement of operational reporting, analysis and Tableau dashboards that support data-driven decision making across the business. Working with multiple data sources, you will identify performance trends, risks, root causes and opportunities for improvement, translating complex business requirements into clear insights and sustainable reporting solutions. You will also drive improvements in reporting automation, efficiency and governance, ensuring robust controls and documentation are maintained. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will support and develop junior analysts while confidently communicating key performance insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

To be successful as a Senior Data and Insights Analyst, you must have experience with:

  • Expertise interrogating data within SQL Servers, and using Tableau and Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) solutions to develop, maintain and enhance reporting and analytical products.
  • Ability to influence Senior Stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to take large amounts of data from several sources and present simple and relevant business performance updates / solutions / models.

Some other highly valued skills may include:

  • Knowledge of products/services & systems used across Barclaycard Payments COO Operations.
  • Knowledge of strategic data structure of Issuing.
  • Experience working with and querying enterprise-scale data environments including AWS Redshift, BIW2 (Hadoop), Microsoft SQL databases and related reporting platforms.

This role is based in Northampton or Sunderland.
