Full description

Location: Alexandria, VA

Accrete is an agentic managed services company: an AI workforce that does high-stakes, judgement-heavy work for government and enterprise clients — at the economics of software, not labor.

At the core is Accrete’s Knowledge Engine, a dynamic context graph that captures an organization’s tacit knowledge, resolves data across silos, and builds a living, auditable ground truth. Expert agents reason against that ground truth to act on complex, high-stakes decisions — not just answer questions about them.

From national security to commercial operations, Accrete delivers the work on one platform, with unlimited expert agents and expert judgement.

The Role

As a Data Scientist Mid, you will work across data management, analytics, and AI-enabled workflows.

You will be responsible for administering and maintaining data management tools, supporting data ingestion and organization, monitoring data quality, developing analytical products, and helping users and technical teams get maximum value from mission data.

This role requires someone who is equally comfortable managing data systems and analyzing the data within them. You will work with large, complex, and often unstructured datasets and help ensure that data is accurate, accessible, properly organized, and ready to support operational and analytical use cases.

You will collaborate closely with engineers, AI/ML teams, product teams, and government customers to understand requirements, troubleshoot data issues, develop analytics, and continuously improve data workflows.

What You'll Do

Data Management & Tool Administration

  • Serve as a primary administrator and subject matter expert for data management and analytics tools
  • Configure, maintain, and monitor data management platforms and associated workflows
  • Manage data ingestion, organization, transformation, and movement across systems
  • Establish and maintain data structures, schemas, metadata, taxonomies, and data classifications
  • Monitor data pipelines and workflows for errors, inconsistencies, and data quality issues
  • Troubleshoot data management and tool-related issues and coordinate with engineering teams when necessary
  • Manage user access, permissions, configurations, and other administrative functions in accordance with security requirements
  • Develop and maintain documentation for data management processes, configurations, workflows, and standards
  • Support data onboarding and integration efforts for new datasets and sources
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive data management and administrative processes
  • Help establish and enforce data governance, quality, and management standards

Data Analytics

  • Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and actionable insights
  • Develop recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and analytical products for government customers and internal stakeholders
  • Translate mission requirements into analytical questions, metrics, and data products
  • Perform data cleaning, transformation, validation, and exploratory analysis
  • Develop and perform simple data extraction tasks to capture and analyze data from structured and unstructured data repositories
  • Create meaningful visualizations and communicate analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Investigate discrepancies and anomalies in datasets and determine their underlying causes
  • Support data-driven decision-making through quantitative analysis and reporting

AI & Data Products

  • Work with AI/ML engineers to prepare and structure data for AI and machine learning applications
  • Support natural language processing, information retrieval, semantic search, and other AI-enabled use cases
  • Help evaluate the quality, completeness, and usefulness of data used by AI systems
  • Develop analytical approaches for evaluating model and system performance
  • Contribute to data pipelines and workflows that support production AI capabilities
  • Identify new opportunities to use automation and AI to improve data management and analysis

Mission & Customer Support

  • Work directly with government customers and mission users to understand data requirements and analytic tasks
  • Translate operational requirements into practical data management and analytic solutions
  • Support demonstrations, testing, and deployment of data capabilities in customer environments
  • Effectively and appropriately operate, process, and protect data from disclosure at the Controlled Unclassified Information up to the TOP SECRET//SCI level

What We're Looking For

  • Active TS//SCI clearance with a Counterintelligence or Lifestyle Polygraph
  • 2–5 years of experience in data science, data analytics, data management, business intelligence, or a related technical field
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Library Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience administering, configuring, or supporting data management, analytics, database, or enterprise data platforms
  • Experience with ontology development and maintenance on technical systems
  • Strong SQL skills and experience querying and analyzing relational and/or large-scale datasets
  • Strong Python skills for data analysis and automation
  • Experience with data cleaning, transformation, validation, and quality assurance
  • Experience developing reports, dashboards, visualizations, and other analytical products
  • Understanding of data governance, metadata, data quality, and data lifecycle management
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies or issues in complex datasets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and work collaboratively with engineering teams
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with evolving requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, or other federal mission
  • Experience administering enterprise data management or analytics platforms
  • Experience with data cataloging, metadata management, data lineage, or data governance tools
  • Experience with analytic and visualization platforms such as Dataiku, Data Robot, R, SPSS, Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or similar
  • Experience with relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes, or cloud data platforms
  • Experience with ETL/ELT tools and data integration workflows
  • Experience with APIs and automated data ingestion
  • Experience with Spark or other distributed data processing technologies
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud environments
  • Experience working with classified, sensitive, or air-gapped data environments
  • Experience supporting AI/ML systems, including NLP, LLMs, embeddings, RAG, or information retrieval
  • Ability to obtain and maintain additional security clearance accesses to Special Access Programs (SAP) or Access Compensatory Control Measures (ACCM)

What Success Looks Like

In this role, success means ensuring that mission-critical data is well-managed, reliable, accessible, and useful.

You will be successful when data management tools and workflows operate reliably, users can find and access the data they need, data quality issues are identified and resolved quickly, and stakeholders have clear analytical products to support decision-making.

You will also serve as an important bridge between data management, analytics, engineering, and mission users, helping turn raw and disparate data into trusted information that can support operational and AI-driven capabilities.
