Join Akamai's Infrastructure Security team to build the customer-facing applications and APIs that help enterprises configure, monitor, and manage critical DNS and IP Acceleration services. Shape the future of the internet

You will lead teams building customer-facing applications and APIs for our DNS and IP Acceleration products. The role combines people leadership, technical leadership, and delivery ownership across a portfolio of established products and new capabilities.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading multiple engineering teams responsible for customer-facing web applications, APIs, and services across a broad DNS product portfolio
  • Developing engineers and technical leads through clear expectations, regular feedback, coaching, career development, and thoughtful delegation of ownership
  • Driving predictable delivery by translating product priorities into executable plans, managing dependencies, identifying risks early, and holding teams accountable for outcomes
  • Guiding technical direction and engineering practices while empowering senior engineers to own architecture, design, implementation, testing, and operational readiness
  • Partnering closely with Product Management, Architecture, SQA, and peer engineering teams to resolve ambiguity, align priorities, and deliver cohesive customer experiences
  • Improving engineering effectiveness through pragmatic processes, solid operational practices, technical debt management, automation, and continuous improvement

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 10 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, or another related field
  • Possess years of experience leading software engineering teams across multiple products or workstreams.
  • Bring solid technical depth in modern software development, including backend services, REST APIs, distributed systems, and web application architectures.
  • Demonstrate success developing senior engineers and technical leads while balancing delegation, technical oversight, and accountability for results
  • Show experience delivering complex software through collaboration with Product Management, Quality Engineering, Architecture, and other engineering teams
  • Communicate effectively across technical and business audiences while navigating ambiguity, competing priorities, technical disagreements, and organizational complexity

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $173,900 - $313,100/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
