What you'll do
As a Data Engineer, you’ll focus on simplifying our bank by developing innovative, data-driven solutions through data engineering, data governance tooling, metadata management solutions, and emerging AI-driven data management technologies. You’ll also strive to deliver commercial outcomes while keeping both customer and bank data safe and secure.
Moreover, you’ll drive customer value by understanding complex business problems and requirements, applying the most appropriate and reusable tools to build data solutions. You’ll also support our strategic direction by engaging with the data engineering community to deliver opportunities, while carrying out complex tasks that enable metadata management, data quality, lineage, governance, and data discovery use cases.
Your responsibilities will also include:
- Supporting data quality and observability by working with business and technology teams to implement and monitor controls and standards
- Enabling effective metadata management by working with enterprise metadata repositories and data catalogue platforms
- Driving data lineage and traceability by working with tools and frameworks to support end-to-end visibility of data flows
- Supporting data governance practices to ensure compliance and effective data management
- Building and supporting scalable data pipelines and cloud-native data solutions
- Contributing to AI-enabled data management initiatives
The skills you'll need
To thrive in this role, you’ll need a strong understanding of data usage and dependencies, along with experience in extracting value and features from large-scale data. You’ll also have to bring practical experience in programming languages, alongside a solid knowledge of data and software engineering fundamentals.
Additionally, you’ll need:
- 15+ years of experience in data engineering, data management, data architecture, or analytics engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise data platforms and data management practices
- Demonstrated experience delivering projects across data quality, metadata management, data cataloguing, data lineage, data governance, data products, and data marketplace capabilities
- Experience operating within regulated environments such as banking, financial services, insurance, or similar industries
